Oh I'm 100% with you, @MrsMara, I'd have them all gone tomorrow, gladly - however, that isn't going to happen. Also agree that none of the proposed changes cover escapes or deaths inside people's houses. There needs to be serious repercussions for any level of anti-social behaviour, and if it starts at far lower boundaries then just perhaps some of the future issues will be prevented. It's about the only hope.
Lots of these dogs that have gone on to kill or seriously injure people have been involved in more 'minor' offences (although tell that to people whose dogs they've killed), and should have been followed up much earlier. Police need to be able to act on these.
I know people bang on about other breeds being just as dangerous, but it is just not true. I have no fear of normal dogs, of whatever size, but these are just manufactured machines. I truly hope that given the number of them compared to the previously banned breeds, and the rate at which numbers are increasing, a different approach will be taken.
I do not feel rescue organisations should be allowed to re-home dogs of this type, sad though I recognise it will be for them in some cases. Advertising should be monitored. I fear this is all vain hope though.
