I've been up about half an hour & am just finishing my first cuppa, in my spot in the kitchen. I've got the window flung open, and can hear lots of birds this morning but it's very quiet other than them.

I was going to make bacon sarnys for breakfast but so far there's no movement from anyone else so we'll see how long I last without brekky. I'm only standing at the cooker once!

Today's going to be another steady one here - finish tidying up after last night (mostly pots to wash), iron school shirts, and upload some things to Vinted. We're using the funds towards going to a different Christmas market and travel to Liverpool to see Taylor Swift next year. Depending on the time when that's done, either crochet or some more prop painting for me.

Dd2's done her homework already, she'll probably either spend the day with her nose in a book, or chatting & Minecrafting with her friend in the Netherlands. Dd1 has some law A-Level work to do so I'll remind her once & leave her to it. They're both off for a walk to little Asda for a small top up shop.

Pork for tea tonight, with roasties and veg. Probably Yorkshire puds too 😋 . Followed by some sort of treat from the shop but not sure what that will be yet - sure they'll pick well!

I'm going to pinch another posters Self Care Sunday idea for tonight & have a proper scrubby shower, followed by some diy pampering, and then a fairly early night 😊

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning Lucysmam and others. The DIY care shower etc sounds good. I might do that too. I've had two coffees and toast. Yesterday was very busy so today will be quieter. I have a little ironing to do and birthday gifts to deliver. I will potter in the garden and roast a chicken for tomorrow. I have both grandsons all day tomorrow,so cooking is best done today! Salmon salad for dinner tonight though. I will be up at five tomorrow , so I'll have an early night too. Have a good day

Silkiebunny · 10/09/2023 09:41

That sounds like a nice day ,LucysMam and morning everyone.

Today Floof started poking me at 5am, just a big soft paw from a 1.1 metre cat, but it went on until ,6.30am. Then despite having his breakfast tuna at 6am he also started trilling and leaping on my wardrobe and bed.

DH has just woken up and is making me a cup of tea. Nice sunny day here though but hot later. Sainsbury's order to collect at 11am, will likely have a ploughman's type lunch due to heat and kitchen being installed atm. Then likely off swimming sauna steam room and jacuzzi with DH. DD is here today working on her A levels and uni applications. DS will be gaming. Floof is very excited now by a carrier bag. It had Indian food in it.

Natsku · 10/09/2023 09:48

Having a cup of tea right now, DS is watching annoying youtube videos, OH is watching tv, and DD is eating her lunch and grumbling. Soon I will have lunch, and after that we're going to visit OH's grandmother who is in hospital, and I will drive (just passed my test on Thursday!) which I'm a bit anxious about as our car feels so different to drive compared to the driving school's cars.

Circus School starts again today for DD so we're going there as well for the welcome talk and to fill out forms and have juice and biscuits. Then do the food shop.

I better do some studying this evening - aerodynamics. Almost finished the course so the exam must be coming up soon. And DD needs reminding to study for her maths test next week.

lucysmam · 10/09/2023 09:49

@Silkiebunny picturing Floof poking you for that long made me smile 🙂 He sounds a character!

@LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand I'm planning some garden pottering tomorrow, depending on the weather. It needs a bit more of a tidy up before I give up on it entirely.

Sitting on the patio shielding from the rain

Going to go into the ' big town' as OH calls it for shopping and..... my life is so exciting....going to Lakeland for a new sock dryer

Erm does anyone know if it's worth the extra

mondaytosunday · 10/09/2023 09:52

Morning! Forced out of bed as I have an engineer booked to fix our boiler (no hot water and it was just serviced last month). No idea when he is coming. Listening to Radio 4 talking about China etc and having breakfast, normally carb fee but added a sliced of seeded as it's Sunday! Already feels too hot to walk the dogs - I have an old boy who has slowed way down and he can't take the heat.
I don't expect to see much of my daughter today. Yesterday we braved the heat and crowds to go to University of Bristol open day - the hills! OMG. I'm over 60, overweight and whoa hard work. Made my 10000 steps though but coupled with three hour drive there and again back and we are both feeling stiff and not up to much.

Oldraver · 10/09/2023 09:53

Oh and on my third cup of coffee, had croissant with my mini jam I ordered this week ( if anyone knows which supermarket sells them now)

Had to bring in washing including DS's mattress protector...thought I had till Monday for the rain to arrive

I think IH is putting bacon on and DS has gone off to work. He's gonna get wet on his bike in shorts but his work is permanently at over 30 degrees

cardibach · 10/09/2023 09:57

Just had a cup of tea and fed the cat (Perdy, long haired so I feel a bit sorry for her in this weather. She doesn't seem bothered though).
Exciting day today - driving to Gatwick to stay over ready from. Very early flight to Montenegro tomorrow! Going Solo but joining a group (of people I don't know - it's an organised group not friends I'm meeting). I. Can't. Wait.

SusanSHelit · 10/09/2023 09:57

Just finished my last night shift. Am now vegetating on the couch waiting for exmil to drop off ds as his dad is in Canada for work.

I'm unsure if I should try and get an hour power nap or push through and just go to bed early tonight.

I can't really sleep while he's here, he's 9 and the house is very upside down with decorating /building work being done

whiteroseredrose · 10/09/2023 09:57

At the airport with DH. We're going to empty PIL house in Spain as they are now both in a care home with dementia. So sad as we have wonderful memories of being there with them.

Giggorata · 10/09/2023 10:04

Morning lucysmam and all.
Another hot day, so washing out on the line.
We are invited to a garden party this afternoon and I have sorted out a big straw hat, to survive the sun.
The dogs have been going out early morning and evenIng with DH and all of them are going into the river for a swim or a splash, then spending the hottest part of the day lolling about in the shade.
We have a mystery dinner tonight, as a label came off in the freezer. DH described it appetisingly as “something brown”.
I hope its curry.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 10/09/2023 10:04

Just finishing my second coffee. DP and DD are both pottering upstairs.
A quiet day at home today - it’s going to be 32C again, so we’ll fill up the paddling pool and just move as little as possible.
I have a new garden shed just for meeeee, so I’m going to have think about what I need in there in terms of shelving and storage and make a plan.

lucysmam · 10/09/2023 10:08

Ooh @SomethingNastyInTheBallPool how exciting! I went out on Friday with some colleagues and we chatted for a while about what we'd do with a space like that just for ourselves. Mine would be full of crafty things. Have fun planning!

@Giggorata I wish you well with dinner 🤣 In our house, they'd side eye me & tell me they're not eating it but might share if it turns out to be something good!

Good morning.

A very lazy start here today, I’ve been sat on the balcony stuffing my face for about an hour, our daughter is playing with a spatula and our son is playing fetch with the dog in the garden. My husband has been parenting solo for three weeks, so he is out today, he is going on a cycling meet with some friends and I assume a fair few drinks will be consumed later tonight.

It isn’t as hot here, highs of 24, so later we’re going to the local nature reserve for a walk and a picnic for lunch.

gingercat02 · 10/09/2023 10:12

Morning @lucysmam and other Sunday crew.
Just pottering here today.
Currently in the garden enjoying the sun with a coffee, listening to the birds and the fog horn, so it isn'tsunny everywhere.
DH is gaming, DS is asleep, so just me and the cat.
No real plans, May do a bit of garden tidy.
Promised DS pancakes for breakfast (more like brunch) as he is finally back to school tomorrow. Y11 so GCSE fear!

gingercat02 · 10/09/2023 10:14

Oh and out for tea as is our "last day of the holidays" tradition. Local Italian restaurant with my mum

Busyhedgehog · 10/09/2023 10:15

Good morning,...I woke up with a sore throat at about 4am, managed to sleep a little more until 7am and then got up to have some lemsip. Did some work for next week's lessons on the computer and watched some Netflix at the same time. DH and DS joined me after a while and I made breakfast.
I've now had a shower and I'm getting some rest on the swing outside. It's starting to get lovely and warm out here. Supposed to hit 31 degrees later, which is nice.
DH is sweeping outside and has turned the hot tub back on for later tonight. DS is playing Minecraft and I'm trying to convince him to get dressed.
We are meant to go and see some friends at their new house this afternoon but I'm not sure I'm feeling up for it. Just want to lie in the sun and chill out... :)

Busyhedgehog · 10/09/2023 10:17

Oh, DH has already made dinner. A big pot of chilli for us and some bolognese sauce for DS. Should last a few days.

Whattheduck · 10/09/2023 10:18

Picked Dd up from her boyfriends and dropped her at work will pick her up at 2.30
Dh working away back tonight
Just having a danish pastry and coffee whilst catching up with Emmerdale
Going to cook a chicken to have with salad later
Have some washing to do and will probably hoover
Going to do some family history research tonight
Have a lovely day everyone

YfenniChristie · 10/09/2023 10:22

Morning! I've been up since 5.30am with DS 15mths (though I'd been dozing on and off since 3.30am). So far we've had a fairly easy morning of it - mostly breakfast and playing - but I am feeling knackered and fairly resentful of DH as I've not had a lie in this week.

He woke up about 20mins ago, so I've made him a coffee and a 2nd one for me. Once I finish that I'm going to dye my hair and get ready for the day. Will probably pop out and a grab a coffee, buy a few bits from the shop and leave DH and DS at home so I have a break.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 10/09/2023 10:26

Thanks, @lucysmam !

@Simonjt How’re you finding your new life in Sweden?

Callywals · 10/09/2023 10:31

I love reading these every Sunday morning. Due to long term Ill health in the family, I lead a very boring life but I really enjoy reading what everyone else is up to, it makes me feel part of the weekend world, so thank you!

Decafflatteplease · 10/09/2023 10:32

Morning @lucysmam and all!

I think it's me who does self care Sunday 🙂 my Sunday evening ritual is bath, gin and tonic, and read my kindle. It's my chance to "switch my head off"

We are about to head off to the park to meet a friend and their children for an hour or so. Weather says thunderstorms and rain all day but so far it's dry but grey. Think the heat has finally broken!

Got some school bits to get ready like labelling pe kit I didn't get chance to do before they went back.

Also need to wrap and post some vinted parcels.

Slow cooker lasagne, salad and garlic bread for dinner. Chocolate cake and cream for dessert.

Then this evening the aforementioned self care Sunday 🙂

Simonjt · 10/09/2023 10:32

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 10/09/2023 10:26

Thanks, @lucysmam !

@Simonjt How’re you finding your new life in Sweden?

Very good so far, but thats easy to say when you’re unemployed and pleasing yourself everyday 🤣

lucysmam · 10/09/2023 10:33

@Decafflatteplease yes! It was you I pinched it from...it's a nice way to end the old week and start the fresh one 😊
