Feeling very hot and sweaty and it’s bloody awful! I’m just out of a shower to cleanse myself as I’ve been feeling sweaty and dirty all evening but now I’m all sweaty again!

I swear I won’t moan if we have a very cold winter this year!

Going to watch the football today in 30 degree heat. Dreading it but Dd is so excited I don’t want to let her down.

Roll on Tuesday when it’s 20 degrees and raining here! My kind of weather.

BirthdayFlake · 10/09/2023 07:11

In this heat I barely sleep and if I do manage to I wake up feeling sick. Then in the day I get dizziness. I drink tons of water but it doesn't help.

We have the windows open and had loads of crane flies come in in the evening. I'm not that scared of them but find it uncomfortable when I'm trying to relax and they're flying around me.

We're only forecast it really hot for a few days now. I'm counting down the hours til I can wear pajamas and feel cozy in bed.

SquirrelFan · 10/09/2023 07:23

@BirthdayFlake make sure you're not drinking too much water! Had to take DS (who drinks a ton of water) to the A&E as his sodium levels went down so far - he was in a really bad way! Dizziness was his first symptom. Have some lucozade or similar to replace salt and potassium.

BirthdayFlake · 10/09/2023 07:39

Thank you @SquirrelFan. I hope your ds is better now.

Seriously, UK is not having anything compared to other part of the world. Storm/hurricane/flood/drought/ deathdue to it? Unawareness is kind of mind boggling.

Have you never been annoyed by anything/felt uncomfortable/complained about anything in your life? If you have, just remember somewhere, someone has/had it worse than you. Please remember this each and every time you're inconvenienced/upset by something, not matter how trivial and instantly think about them over your own feelings.

crumblylancs · 10/09/2023 07:59

I don't complain about the cold, I enjoy it- the humidity drains my life 🥴 returned from Spain looking forward to the autumn, straight in to this and no, I've not complained about the lack of UK summer, I remember the weeks we had in June when I spent it lying infront of a fan with horrible morning sickness👌🏻

The hot weather will be gone in a couple of days if not before. It will have dropped 10 degrees by Tuesday where I am, according to the weather outlook.

This, we've had a pretty miserable summer and we get just a few nice days and dozens of people moaning about it on here Sad

I'm dreading winter.

Riapia · 10/09/2023 08:08

It’s not just the heat it’s the length of time we’ve had to put up with it.
No people anywhere else in the world could bear a heatwave lasting almost an entire week.
😉😁😁😁

DrCoconut · 10/09/2023 00:20

Today has been really nice. How it should have been for the summer holidays. We've managed to get a day out to make the most of it since we were stuck in for so much of July watching it rain. It will be cold and miserable for months soon.

@DrCoconut we has to stay in the house all day today doing virtually nothing as it was too go outside and too hot to do anything! We did far more when it rained! At least you can go for walks in the rain!

Beezknees · 10/09/2023 08:13

I don't like it too hot, too cold or when it's raining. About 17 degrees is my ideal 😂

MeinKraft · 10/09/2023 08:15

My house gets really really hot when it's sunny so it's been a struggle at times, I've felt nauseous on and off all week. But I've loved having an extra bit of summer, kids have been able to play in the paddling pool again which is really nice. Winter is long enough!

MrsJBaptiste · 10/09/2023 08:18

I know, right? It's been a whole week... so awful... 🙄

We had 3 weeks of sun in June, 8 weeks of rain in July & August and 1 week of sun in September. Hardly the most amazing summer!

I love this weather and am already dreading it ending 😩

Classic MN! Keep them coming 😂

MeinKraft · 10/09/2023 08:23

It's also one in the eye for the retailers who insist on filling the shelves with Christmas stuff and foisting pumpkin spiced everything on us before summer is even over!

HollieHobbie · 10/09/2023 08:25

It's the humidity. Spain/Italy you get a dry heat which is bearable. Here we get a humid heat making you uncomfortable. Plus their houses are designed to lose the heat whereas ours are built to retain heat.

I'm looking forward to my next Tenerife holiday because it'll be lovely and warm even at night whereas this is ugh!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/09/2023 08:25

Almost gone. By the end of Tuesday it will feel much better outdoors. Might take a bit longer to shed the heat indoors.

crumblylancs · 10/09/2023 08:27

😂 it's about individual preference- if you like the heat it's absolutely fine, great stuff, enjoy! You're allowed to dread it ending and moan about the cold.

If you don't, also fine- you're allowed to complain about the heat and humidity and what that brings along with looking forward to cooler weather.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/09/2023 08:30

Just to note, thunderstorms don't actually 'clear the air'. Sometimes they occur on the boundary of a cold front, heralding cooler air behind it making it much fresher. Hence the saying. But it's the change in airmass that makes it better, not the storm. If they bubble up simply because the air is too unstable, the resultant rainfall makes it even more humid.

dudsville · 10/09/2023 08:37

For me this is about two things. Firstly, i become inactive and drink too much cold beer as it just hits the spot, so I've gained 2 pounds. Secondly, I have rosacea. So I'm quite red anyway, but if i get hot, bend over to pick something up, sneeze, have alcohol, a hot flush, anything, then I get full on red. People comment on it so I wear foundation as I don't like the comments. I cannot keep foundation on in this weather.

And then you'll doubtless spend the winter shiteing on about how much you hate the cold 🤷🏻‍♀️

ChevyCamaro · 10/09/2023 12:40

I don't recall this rubbish wet summer people keep going on about? We had loads of really hot sunny days since early June. Not every day, but plenty. I agree with the pp that the scary thing is the planet feels sick. 30 degrees in mid September is not normal. At all. So maybe don't get an a/c unit for next year and become part of the problem? Plant a tree people! ( trees cool)

Willmafrockfit · 10/09/2023 12:43

i agree it was so hot last night - i was blaming it on the glass of rose i had consumed
and yesterday i did barely anything - it is still waiting for me today!

I probably will. If it's acceptable to whinge on about the heat there's no reason why autumn and winter haters can't complain about the cold.

ilovesooty · 10/09/2023 13:18

@ChevyCamaro it rained most days in July and a lot of August where I am.

Glad someone else does not remember the rubbish wet summer. I thought it was just me. May and June were bone dry (and sunny and warm) to the extent we were desperately needing rain. Got some rain in July but it was normal weather - like some rain, some dry, some sun, some not. Same for August. Overall I think it's been a very warm, humid summer with not much rain at all.

Tomatoes growing in garden (Scotland) so can't have been that bad a summer to have a good crop of tomatoes.
