Peeing In The Swimming Pool.

Bobbiesgirlie · 09/09/2023 14:34

Today my husband told our 6 year old to pee in the swimming pool if he needs to, to save getting out.

I said that this was out of order and if he needs to go he should get out.

My husband replied that he's always peed in the pool since being a kid and confessed to peeing in the shower too. My husband said most people do it, they just won't admit it.

Do people actually do this!?

peeing in the pool is gross

Peeing in the shower? can't get excited about that

dementedpixie · 09/09/2023 14:37

No I don't pee in the pool and the kids were always told to get out to pee. Its gross to pee where people are putting their faces in the water. I do pee in the shower and it is washed away so isnt swilling around other people's bodies

Tygertiger · 09/09/2023 14:38

Peeing in the shower is fine. It gets washed down the drain. Swimming pool: really disgusting. Doesn’t matter that there’s chlorine in it, it’s foul behaviour and a terrible example to set a child.

Iliketulips · 09/09/2023 14:40

Yuk. I know people do it, but really not a pleasant thing to do to others.

Soapboxqueen · 09/09/2023 14:42

No and no

IncompleteSenten · 09/09/2023 14:47

It's disgusting but he's far from the only one, sadly.

Apparently the strong chlorine smell is chloramines because the chemical reacts with piss, sweat and other bodily stuff.

I read the average public pool has got about 8 gallons of piss in it.

fearfuloffluff · 09/09/2023 15:00

Tell him some pools put stuff in the water that changes colour when it meets piss so it shows who is doing it.

He's gross. Peeing in the shower is unobjectionable if slightly unmentionable

Santanderfall · 09/09/2023 15:02

I wouldn't say 'most' but I'd say 'a lot' of people pee in the sea, the swimming pool and in the shower.

That's not to say it's okay but it's definitely common. This conversation/debate has been had for decades.

This is an urban myth, sadly!

FatandRoundBouncingontheGround · 09/09/2023 15:03

I object to peeing in the shower!

I don't believe that every trace of urine goes down the drain and as I am the person who does the shower cleaning in a household of 6 I am buggered if I want 6 pees a day swilling down my open shower drain getting smelly and requiring me to clean

Peeing in pool also gross of course.

MyBedIsMySpiritualHome · 09/09/2023 15:04

No to the pool or a hot tub or a bath
Yes to the sea or the shower.

CaptainMyCaptain · 09/09/2023 15:05

It's disgusting.

SurelyBassey · 09/09/2023 15:05

No disgusting to both

ImthatBoleyngirl · 09/09/2023 15:07

This is why I rarely use swimming pools, because people are disgusting!!

HamstersAreMyLife · 09/09/2023 15:08

Agree with this

TidyDancer · 09/09/2023 15:08

Your husband is disgusting. I don't believe for a second most people pee in swimming pools. Showers I'm not so bothered about I guess but still not nice.

I'm 45, this was something that was said against peeing in the pool when I was a kid.

So it's not a new 'eww gross' conversation.

KitchenSinkLlama · 09/09/2023 15:09

I dont ever use any public pool/hotel pool etc. This is why.

I know, it’s an old myth - but it’s still a myth. There is no chemical in swimming pools which will react with urine and change colour and never has been.

Agree with this. If water is being washed away then its ok. Absolutely no to anywhere water is contained.

I wonder does he do a little pee in the steam room too, no one would notice??

He is so wrong and disgusting OP

FlowersGrewBackAsThorns · 09/09/2023 15:12

I love to swim. It's the most beneficial thing I can do for my mental health. The Tories have seen fit to pump our rivers and seas full of shit and there are disgusting people who think it's fine to piss in the pool. Does swimming in clean water become a preserve of those rich enough to have their own pools?

50lessfat · 09/09/2023 15:16

This is why I go to the pool as soon as it’s open in the morning before kids are allowed in and it’s had all night to clean too.

Santanderfall · 09/09/2023 15:20

You're right.

I was more commenting on OPs apparent surprise that her DP said it's something people do. Which is something people have always done, so much so that a myth was formed. 😂

ActDottie · 09/09/2023 15:21

Peeing in a pool is a massive no! I did as a kid but soon grew out of that and my parents never encouraged me to!

Shower weeing if I’m desperate but not very often. But it all gets washed away.

CalistoNoSolo · 09/09/2023 15:23

It's rank to pee in a public swimming pool, and its the reason I don't use them. Your husband is pretty revolting imo.
