Bedding - Who does this ?

Am I a weirdo or does anyone else do this.

If the weather is lovely ( as it is today ) and you wash your bedding and get it outside to dry.
Do you put the same bedding back on the beds and feel extra virtuous / or excited that you are going to be sleeping on bedding that has dried outside and will be really
well aired and fresh feeling ?

Oh hell yes. Not virtuous but just like it’s super satisfying 😌

BigBoysDontCry · 08/09/2023 18:28

I plan that as much as possible but just for the smell more than anything.

Cosmosforbreakfast · 08/09/2023 18:29

The best night's sleep ever is from line dried bedding!

Did it yesterday. Wish I done it again today 😁

Makinglists · 08/09/2023 18:31

Yes it's lovely you can feel the sun and smell the fresh air (and you don't have the faff of folding it and putting it away)

Doggymummar · 08/09/2023 18:32

Yes, but it's the same each time we wash it

Angie147836 · 08/09/2023 18:32

Yes, and if it's back on before sunset I don't feel guilty about not ironing it either!

TrafficBlocking · 08/09/2023 18:32

Yes yes yes!!! Hopefully tomorrow no rain till 3pm 😬

Jennalong · 08/09/2023 18:45

Glad I'm not alone in this ! 😀

I do, but not during the period when my hay-fever is at its worst (may-june).

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 08/09/2023 18:58

No. I mostly tumble dry bedding as I live in a notoriously wet location. I line-dry my laundry when I have time and when I can guarantee it won't have got rained on by the time I get home from work, which is rarely. Because it's better for the environment. I find hanging washing out annoying, and I don't find it smells any nicer 30 mins after bringing it in than tumble-dried does. Plus even if it did, you appreciate it for 10 mins before going to sleep! By the next morning it's had bodies sleeping in it, so what's the point?

Sorry to be a grinch! I'm all for appreciating the simple things in life, but I've never understood MN's line-dried laundry obsession!

soupmaker · 08/09/2023 19:12

Hell yes. Doesn't happen that often here due to the proliferation of rainy days but managed it yesterday. Don't bother to iron pillowcases if they go direct from line to bed. Never iron fitted sheets and duvet covers. The smell and feel was divine climbing into bed last night.

ssd · 08/09/2023 19:17

Oh god im so jealous all these nice clean beds tonight

Augustone · 08/09/2023 19:20

100% if I ever have enough money to live a life of pure luxury, this is up at the top of the list. Air dried clean bedding every single day of my life

Lilibert456 · 08/09/2023 19:39

Line dry everything when weather allows. I feel guilty tumble drying, it seems so wasteful when you can dry it for free. I love to see all my laundry blowing in the breeze. I am retired now so lucky to have time to stand and stare now and again 😀. Clean bed linen straight from the washing line tonight.

erlangshen · 08/09/2023 19:55

yes absolutely! Just did this yesterday!

Its a common practise where I came from. I have seen my grandma and mum doing it growing up, its part of the routine. We also only use natural material filled duvets (cotton, silk or down). I love the smell of sun dried duvet too.

I have always done it wherever I live, although I did realise I was the only one doing this when living abroad.

It used to do it very often when living in NZ because there was so much sun! not easy in UK, cant do this in winter:( but I make the most of it whenever I can on sunny days.

nicknamehelp · 08/09/2023 19:58

I have this joy tonight and dh away so can fully stretch out and appreciate every moment in my lovely fresh bed

Thisisthedawningoftheageofaquarius · 08/09/2023 20:02

honestly one of my favourite things! I’m with you OP! My sisters even slag me about it as I might mention it the odd time (constantly!!)

Jennalong · 08/09/2023 20:05

@nicknamehelp

Double the joy ! Enjoy .

Absolutely …it’s simply fresh, crispy gorgeousness

NowNumber5 · 08/09/2023 20:07

Oooh yes, one of the best feelings in the world (to me!)
I actually went one step further and washed my duvet and put it out yesterday, and out again today just to “make sure it’s dried properly” 😂

ManchesterLu · 08/09/2023 20:12

If I know I can get bedding washed and dried in the same day, I'll put the same bedding back on. As you say, it's nice and fresh!

Ohdearwhatnow4 · 08/09/2023 20:15

I love this but have to iron it. Our bedding is bamboo bedding so dries really quickly

CremeEggThief · 08/09/2023 20:16

Ooh yes! I did this today and was loving the lavender fabric conditioner scent when I put the bedding back on (only got one summer duvet set).

NotTooOldPaul · 08/09/2023 20:20

Not so much bedding but clothes.
I love getting all the clothes into the washing machine and then going to bed, getting up a while later and hanging them all up to dry on the pully and then the next morning putting them back on.
