Bedding - Who does this ?

Jennalong · 08/09/2023 18:26

Am I a weirdo or does anyone else do this.

If the weather is lovely ( as it is today ) and you wash your bedding and get it outside to dry.
Do you put the same bedding back on the beds and feel extra virtuous / or excited that you are going to be sleeping on bedding that has dried outside and will be really
well aired and fresh feeling ?

The best night's sleep ever is from line dried bedding!

Absolutely this!

HadEnoughOfBears · 08/09/2023 20:27

Absolutely.
Plus line dried pyjamas and fresh out of a shower & hairwash.

And make sure you're first to bed!

MeinKraft · 08/09/2023 20:28

Wish I'd done that today. My pillow smells sweaty. Everything is sweaty.

I do but more because I’m lazy and it means I don’t have to fold and put it away.

SpideyWoman1 · 08/09/2023 20:35

Yes I absolutely hate folding it up! I’m the same with the kids clothes. I’ll leave tomorrows clothes out and not put them away.

YourWinter · 08/09/2023 20:36

I always was my bedding and towels when the weather forecast is for a reasonable drying day. It goes back on my bed the same day if it’s dry enough.

YourWinter · 08/09/2023 20:37

*wash

PurBal · 08/09/2023 20:39

We did this today. DH and I commented on how nice and fresh and crisp the sheets are.

Puffwiththegreeneyes · 08/09/2023 21:34

I absolutely hate line dried bedding. But I'm a weirdo that finds the smell of cut grass and flowers awful 😕

JewelTheft · 08/09/2023 21:37

Yes, and I plan to do so tomorrow!

Beaverbridge · 08/09/2023 21:40

It's the best thing, especially after a bath or shower then fresh pj, s. Ah the simple things eh?.

tealandteal · 08/09/2023 21:40

Absolutely love this! Even better if DH doesn’t know I have done it until bedtime for some reason.

DappledThings · 08/09/2023 21:45

Ooh no. I have three sets of bedding and they have ro be used in strict rotation.

If I put the same set back on I'd stripped I'd be skipping the other two sets and they might get upset.

DiaNaranja · 08/09/2023 21:48

I would love to, but can't dry very much outside due to hayfever 🥺 luckily my house is a sauna all year round, so everything dries pretty quickly indoors, even in winter. Terraced Eco house, with 14 foot windows mean it's like a greenhouse, even when the sun only shines for half an hour!

cornflower21 · 08/09/2023 21:58

Yessss- love the fresh and crispy bedding from outside.

TakenUpTheOxoTower · 08/09/2023 22:06

@Augustone

yes!! I’ve always thought I would have clean bedding every night if I was rich!! I read that Elizabeth Taylor insisted her (lilac linen) bedding was changed daily😮 When DS was tiny and I was home all day, I often changed our bed, and his cot bedding daily.
The smell and fresh feel of sun-warmed line-dried washing is divine!

ActDottie · 08/09/2023 22:09

I wouldn’t say virtuous but I feel secretly smug that I’ve managed to wash and dry it in one day.

Lizzieregina · 08/09/2023 22:10

i haven’t had a clothes line in 20 years!

I used to like fresh off the line sheets and would certainly have washed them and put them back on same day.

UsingChangeofName · 08/09/2023 22:33

Oh yes.
I have done that today, as it happens.
I will have a smug, cheesy grin on my face when I get into bed tonight Grin

I've done 3 loads today - sooooo satisfying .

Moveoverdarlin · 08/09/2023 22:35

This is all I ever do. Maybe in the depth of winter whack it in the tumbler, but always line dry and put back on the bed the same day.

CityLight · 08/09/2023 22:43

I love doing this - it’s one of life’s simple pleasures! Once though, settling down to that lovely relaxed feeling of line dried sheets, I could hear buzzing. Thought it was some kind of tinnitus at first but eventually took the pillowcase off and found a MASSIVE 🐝. I put it back outside and we all lived happily ever after! I always check now and have never found another!

givemeasunnyday · 08/09/2023 22:45

My bedding is dried outside all year around - in NZ - but no, I don't put it straight back on the bed as I have several sets of winter and summer bedding.

Ha, ha - that's me also!

I just got a new set of winter sheets and can't wait to wash the ones on the bed, so I can use the new ones (it's spring here before anyone tells me it's too hot).

mathanxiety · 08/09/2023 23:59

I have serious line dried bedding envy now.

I tumble dry all my laundry and it's lovely. It goes straight from dryer to bed. Still love line dried though.

JellyBeanFactory · 09/09/2023 00:36

Mines been washed and dried beautifully today BUT it must now go in the airing cupboard "to air". Can't go straight back on the bed (really don't know why!!) but must spend time in the airing cupboard. Ah, what seeds our mothers plant.
