I liked New York but I’m a city person. Chicago I loved and would happily have moved there (if visas/education etc weren’t an issue).
I didn’t love Vancouver. Whale watching was amazing but walking along the beach in the evening the grassy banks were full of groups smoking weed so it stunk. The park and pools at the north were nice but people weren’t friendly (not many Canadians), very few children which felt odd and just didn’t feel like Canada. As soon as we drove into the Rockies we were so much happier and love Calgary and the route between the two. I have family in Calgary though so that makes a difference.
I used to hate Paris for the reasons others have said but a year ago dh took me to Paris to see lady gaga. We made a weekend of it. It was 38 degrees (I love the sun) and we walked so so much enjoying the beautiful architecture, lovely cafes. We stayed in a boutique hotel off Liberty square and it just felt safe. A few years before at Le Sacré-Coeur I felt so unsafe I never thought we’d return.
