What are your ‘I’m poorly’ foods

In bed with Covid, can’t do much, don’t really want to eat but feel I have to be proactive about it so just had sour dough bread and honey washed down with kombucha.
What I really want is hot Ribena and rich tea biscuits.
What helps you when you are poorly!

Soup (chicken, chicken noodle or chicken and vegetable) with white bread and butter

cheeseandketchupsandwich · 03/09/2023 22:43

McDonald's. Every time

neverenoughwine · 03/09/2023 22:43

Heinz tomato soup and cheese in toast

Chicken Soup

Salted Crisps

These aren't things I eat at all in any other circumstance, wouldn't even say I particularly rate them so I'm really not sure what it's all about - some forgotten childhood throwback perhaps.

Either way it's cheese and ham sandwiches squashed down quite flat (not even the good quality kind - cheap white bread, cheap ham), tinned raspberries in strawberry jelly, a small bottle of Lucozade original and plain digestive biscuits.

GhostOrchid · 03/09/2023 22:44

Scrambled egg in a warm, white pita bread. Nice and soft and bland.

Weetabix mashed up with warm milk and sugar.

If coldy, hot honey and lemon with a tot of whisky.

Dreamsarereal · 03/09/2023 22:44

I now want cheesey mashed potatoes and a boiled egg.
You can keep your tomato soup, I can’t even open the tin!

gogomoto · 03/09/2023 22:45

Chocolate brownie ice cream. Actually i want it every day but I know i mustn't, my guard drops if I'm feeling poorly

TiredyMcTired · 03/09/2023 22:46

Angel Delight
Chucky Egg with white bread and butter
vanilla ice cream
lucozade or dandelion & burdock

ChaToilLeam · 03/09/2023 22:46

I wish I had a tin of Heinz Cream of Chicken or a tin of Ambrosia rice, I’m poorly at the moment but live in a country where these aren’t available 😭

Making do with yoghurt and home made tattie soup.

Friarclose · 03/09/2023 22:46

Depends on the illness -

After a vomiting bug I have scrambled eggs, dry toast, sometimes an ice lolly.

For nausea it's fizzy lemon, Iced water.

For anything coldy is got to be soup either tomato or chicken, chicken korma, ice cream.

Summerscoming23 · 03/09/2023 22:48

Homemade veg soup - always blended white thick white bread and butter.

Flat lemonade - preferably 7up

Redglitter · 03/09/2023 22:49

Heinz chicken & mushroom or tomato soup with plain bread & butter. Has to be plain bread

BIossomtoes · 03/09/2023 22:50

Scrambled egg on buttered toast. Always.

TastesLikeStrawberriesOnASummerEvening · 03/09/2023 22:50

Tinned chicken soup.
Plain toast.
Salt and vinegar crisps.

Hubcapdiamondstarhalo · 03/09/2023 22:51

My go to is proper Scottish porridge made with water and salt, with a mug of ice cold whole milk - reminds me of my early years in Scotland.

Occasionally just a bowl of cornflakes will do it. Whole milk again, instead of my usual skimmed.

It's probably the only time I don't fancy sweet stuff.

echt · 03/09/2023 22:54

Heinz tomato soup, but only the NZ variety, which tastes like the UK one. The Aussie Heinz Big Red is horrible

Hot Vimto

ThinkingAgainAndAgain · 03/09/2023 22:54

Kellogg’s corn flakes, semi skimmed milk and a sprinkling of sugar.

Crinkle77 · 03/09/2023 22:55

Violinist64 · 03/09/2023 22:28

Either Heinz tomato soup or boiled eggs.

Snap. And you gotta have thick buttered white bread.

PurplePansy05 · 03/09/2023 22:57

White bloomer toast with real butter and a cup of tea
Plain crackers, maybe with some cheddar or jam
Marmite on white toast
Warm squash with lemon and honey
Black tea with lemon and honey
If I'm more adventurous, homemade chicken broth packed with veg, other homemade veggie soup or Heinz tomato soup

Keep a hot water bottle near your chest, it really helps.

PurplePansy05 · 03/09/2023 22:59

And Cadbury's plain Dairy Milk when I'm on the mend, presumably I crave them to get some energy back fast.

bonzaitree · 03/09/2023 23:00

Heinz cream of chicken soup. Occasionally interspersed with Heinz cream of tomato soup. Yum.

TheGirlWhoLived · 03/09/2023 23:01

Heinz cream of tomato soup with doorstep fresh bread made into a cheese sandwich 👌🏻 I’ve never had an illness this didn’t make my mouth water!

1992H · 03/09/2023 23:02

Super noodle sandwiches here. With a thick layer of butter, on cheap white bread. Bonus points if the southern fried chicken ones but if not chicken

Ladyj84 · 03/09/2023 23:03

Plate of proper buttery mashed potato with a hot chocolate. My other half is awesome when he sees a bad day and making my comfort food and drink
