I'm just drinking my first cuppa, in my spot in the kitchen, as always. The window's open & the only sounds I can hear are the fridge humming away to itself & a neighbours dc playing. I might head outside to finish my brew since it's nice out.

Today we're off to town to pick up my new glasses, and nip into Primark for a jumper dd1 spotted last Saturday. Pretty sure dd2 will find something she likes the look of, and we'll end up at the greengrocer for some fruit too.

Hopefully we'll not be out too long & I can come home to chill. My legs feel like I ran a marathon yesterday! If it's not late when we get in, I want to finish crocheting some more Colour Monster props for work, ready for stuffing tomorrow, then I can drop them in on Monday's training day.

Dd1 has a bit of college work to finish off so she'll probably do some more of that when we get in, while facetime-ing her American friend. And dd2 persuaded me to buy her yet another book yesterday, so I think she'll probably read that (probably the whole thing in tbh!).

Dd1 is meant to be cooking, but forgot to defrost chicken, so we'll see 🤔.

Tonight will be chill in front of the tv for me, maybe a bit of something crafty, maybe my book (crafty always wins lately!), then an early ish night. I'm meant to be at a friend's wedding do, but over-did it last Saturday & wrote off Sunday altogether so don't think I'm going to go.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning!

not too much planned today, cleaning up downstairs while the kids play roblox, then we will get dressed and go to my parents for a bit. Probably out for a walk somewhere later then to Asda to do a top up shop. Hopefully the clothes labels I ordered arrived today so I can get all the kids new stuff labelled.

swimming lessons start again tomorrow so need to dig out all the stuff again and get ready.
So looks like it will be a fairly chilled weekend before back to school this week!

JumpingQueen · 02/09/2023 09:06

Morning,

Today I am on a mission to get all the school clothes ironed and labelled ready for Monday! I am also going to tackle the washing pile.

Nothing particularly exciting unfortunately

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 02/09/2023 09:11

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I have had two coffees, a cup of tea and an almond croissant. One washing is out, another on and I've done a top up shop at Aldi. Dgs2 is arriving shortly for an hour or so. When he's picked up, I'm going to roast a chicken for tomorrow and make stock with the carcass. Gammon steak for dinner tonight. Enjoy your day

lucysmam · 02/09/2023 09:12

Sorting school stuff is on tomorrow's list for me. I'm sure I only counted four shirts when I washed them the other day so may need another couple for dd2. Just need to check they both have everything else they need too - they both say they do & are quite organised so should be ok.

Ooh @LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand I love an almond butter croissant from Lidl 😋 Not had one in ages!

Morning all!

I’m still in bed with a coffee, DP is out walking the dog. He’s playing cricket today and I’m off to the football with my dad and later we have the cricket club’s end of season party which will be fun!

Tomorrow we’re cooking a roast for 10! Got all the kids back and our parents coming over as our summer lodger is leaving to go back to NZ so we have to say goodbye…🙁

We’re doing chicken and beef, roasties, yorkies, mashed swede, cauliflower and broccoli cheese, roasted carrots, red cabbage, peas and proper gravy - I can’t wait, haven’t had a roast in ages!

Justonedayatatime11 · 02/09/2023 09:15

We're on our way to Burghley for cross country day. Very excited. Second visit this week after being there on Thursday for dressage. Looking forward to a day of shopping, eating and watching some amazing riding!

PurpleSky09 · 02/09/2023 09:16

Morning all.

Currently sat with a cup of tea listening to the radio. Will get up in a minute and spend an hour cleaning with DP. We are planning a walk into town to get ingredients for dinner later and we'll probably have some lunch at a cafe somewhere.

Planning a lazy evening, hoping to finish my book and will probably watch a film. Got a busy week coming up, so hoping for a quiet weekend!

Lilithlogic · 02/09/2023 09:18

Having a cuppa atm. Been awake since 5am, done to loads of laundry, dishes, cleaned kitchen and just sorted two drawers in the kitchen, honestly the crap I keep is ridiculous. Now I'm fuzzy headed after taking day 3 of a new medication.

lucysmam · 02/09/2023 09:43

Crikey @Lilithlogic you were up very early! I looked at the time around 5am, took my tablet, & went back to sleep 💤

I should be getting sorted for town atm, if I don't want to be out late, but seem to have been sucked into a Vinted search for a furry jacket to turn into a Karma jacket for the Taylor Swift concert we're going to next year 🙈 I reckon I can somehow attach tinsely strands to existing fluff rather than do the whole thing from scratch 🤔 ignores rest of crafty to do list 🤣

Hey. Just up waiting for my fasting window to end so I can have breakfast! I've put the dishwasher on, fed cats and let the dogs out back.
I have to collect a food order at 12, walk the dogs, do some laundry (and of course there's always housework, but that often gets put down the list).
My daughter is applying to Uni with grades in hand and did very well so she has changed her focus completely, so we have spent a considerable time each day researching options. Possible Cambridge application so deadline close. So today I'm looking at the variety of accommodation options at each on her shortlist, comparing bursaries available etc. She has a summer project due for her Art Foundation course starting Wednesday and has finally got to grips with it! That will keep her busy today.
My son (who lives away) has his first kick-boxing assessment as I write then off to work.

Positive41 · 02/09/2023 09:49

Good morning

Sitting here on MN and i really need to get up and shower. One DC is awake, other still sleeping and DH on his computer.

I need to buy sunhats for school next week given its going to be hot. I'm fat and now thinking what the hell am i going to wear on the school run.

I need to put the sticky labels in their uniform- can't be bothered

I need to tidy up-can't be bothered

I need to think about where to take the DC today.

I think i'm tired as the school holiday comes to a close. Imagining having a quiet house next week. Big smile!

mamaduckbone · 02/09/2023 09:52

Good morning @lucysmam and all. I'm drinking a nice coffee after my run - my running friend is away this weekend so it was a bit half hearted.
Dh has called a 'family meeting' this morning to try and iron out the things we are constantly moaning at the teenagers about, now we're all back at school and work. We'll see how that goes (there will be bacon sandwiches to soften the blow!)

Ds2 wants some new jeans, so we'll try and squeeze shopping in somewhere. Jerk chicken is already marinading for dinner.

Later, it is ds1's first rugby match, so we'll go and watch that, and he has the first of many 18th birthday parties to go to. Dh and I will probably watch a film, ds2 will doubtless disappear onto the PlayStation this evening.

Decafflatteplease · 02/09/2023 09:58

Morning @lucysmam and all! Good to hear you sounding so positive, hope you like your new glasses!

I'm sat on the couch with a blanket, it's feeling autumnal today (my favourite season) we had condensation for the first time since summer on our windows a sure sign of the changing of seasons. 1800s house so condensation is a regular feature from September to April!

I'm just finishing off the food shop to be delivered tomorrow and then need to be quick sticks at getting ready as we are meant to be out the house in an hour or so 😂 we are off to one of our favourite nature reserves we are regulars and love it.

Home around 5 and then we are getting a Chinese for dinner as a end of holiday treat and I can't wait! Our friends run it and it's lovely although we hardly have it anymore as trying to save money!

Wine and TV with DH later as is our usual Saturday night routine 🙂

OldTinHat · 02/09/2023 10:08

Morning! I have my first ever bout of covid, tested because I'm due to stay with family later this week and my DF is on chemo.

Sat up in bed, feel rubbish, think I might try and doze off for a bit as I didn't sleep last night for the coughing. Bah!!

Happy Saturday @lucysmam and everyone!

Dontcallmescarface · 02/09/2023 10:12

Not much so far. Just got some washing on, hoping the weather gets better so I can hang it out (it's dull and foggy in this little corner of Somerset). DP is out with a friend later, no idea when he'll be back or even what state he'll be in as they haven't seen each other in ages so it's likely to get a bit "messy". I'm hoping to go out for the afternoon and wander around a local tourist spot and maybe have a coffee. Later I shall settle in front of the t.v with wine and snacks, and await DP's return and his "I bloody love you, you're amazing" slurred comments he usually makes on the (very) rare occasions he gets drunk.

lucysmam · 02/09/2023 10:15

That's rubbish @OldTinHat 😢 I hope your df is doing ok with the chemo? And that you're feeling better soon 💐

Washing. Shopping. Gardening. Sitting in the sun.
Absolutely glorious here NW.

MinnieMountain · 02/09/2023 10:17

I’ve been for a walk and made Welsh cakes for DS’s packed lunches. I’ve also taken down the seams on his school trousers, but I think I’ll leave ironing out the kinks until tomorrow.
I need to return some library books. We’re going to a family fun day and dog show this afternoon.
DH is at hockey.
DS is making fires in the garden.

Thislittlekitten · 02/09/2023 10:19

Good morning all. Hope your legs feel better soon @lucysmam.

Have been awake for a while but just having some bacon rolls now. Our kids (Scotland) have been back a few weeks so uniforms in the wash and discussing homework here.

Kids have a busy day with football and parties. I actually have a few hours to myself today so plan on ironing and reading. I’m working a long day tomorrow and most of next week so hope to be organised today

DH is planning a skip run and cats having their morning naps!

AllotmentTime · 02/09/2023 10:19

Morning all

I've been up, emptied dishwasher, put a load of washing on, bullied the kids into doing a bit of tidying, and have now come back to bed with a coffee to rest from my labours 😁

Personally I could quite happily spend the day pottering about and doing odd housework jobs. But I think DH needs to get out, he's had a crap week. So will see if I can persuade / blackmail everyone into a walk on the common. Might message some friends for a meet up tomorrow as well.

Dinner is jacket potatoes with tuna / cheese / salad bits and the DC will whine. Tough though, they need eating up.

ShipshapeShore · 02/09/2023 10:44

Morning all. Having a quiet day today as I'm a teaching assistant and we went back this week. It's been very busy! Taking my girls for their first riding lesson at a new stable later - the old one was closer and cheaper but the instruction was a bit rubbish and it was very cliquey. Going to do some crochet this afternoon as it's so soothing, I'm making a chunky infinity scarf for when it gets cold 😊

Maddy70 · 02/09/2023 10:52

It's our anniversary today so we have an afternoon watching our football team then going out for a very nice meal tonight

Simonjt · 02/09/2023 10:59

Good morning, our sale on our little holiday home has completed so I handed the keys over this morning and went through the bookings with the new owner. I’m starting my drive to our new home with the dog and cat today, it will be the cats first time on a very long journey, so I’ve given myself a week if long days on the road are too much for her.

So today we’re going to see if we can make it to maybe Ghent or Antwerp today. Today could potentially be the last day I ever live in the UK, which is a bit bonkers really.

Have a lovely Saturday everyone.

daffodilandtulip · 02/09/2023 11:03

Morning! I've walked the dog and had a coffee in the garden for the first time in months! I've chased up some invoices and bizarrely had apologies and instant payments so that's a good start to the new academic year 😊

Just having a smoothie from said position then I'm planting some Spring bulbs ... snowdrops, daffodils and anemones.

Teens are off out for their last weekend of freedom and it would be so peaceful if the whole world wasn't mowing and jetwashing...
