Oasis fans….help!

I’m getting married in December and want to walk down the aisle to Oasis. They’ve been my favourite band for as long as I remember and nothing else would feel right.

I have a problem though…which song?

I have my ultimate favourites. The Masterplan, Stop crying your heart out, Little by little, Don’t go away, Round are way, Roll it over…..
but I don’t know if my love for those songs is obscuring the fact that they’re perhaps not suitable?

Wonderwall is a great tune, but overplayed over the years and not ‘special’ enough to me.

What would you choose?

Thanks!

I can empathise… I love The Charlatans and chose Try Again Today. It meant loads to us as a couple but were worried about suitability and we explored lots of other bands and songs before we decided to go for it anyway. (First dance, not walking down the aisle)

Of the songs you mention:

Little by Little would definitely work - it’s about growing together and has some romantic lyrics.

The Masterplan could also work - destiny.

Wonderwall isn’t really a love song from what I’ve heard of the origins.

Songbird? Quite upbeat.

Songbird

Not Oasis but we had Noel Gallagher's If I Had a Gun as our first dance.

I love Little by Little. Will think of others that might work too.

Definitely Champagne supernova!

dontforgetme · 31/08/2023 13:37

@JorisBonson great minds!

dontforgetme · 31/08/2023 13:37

@Tryingtogetitright absolutely love this track!

ReeseWitherfork · 31/08/2023 13:37

Let there be love?

I’m a fan of Champagne Supernova. Tone works well, the lyrics are relatively nonsensical!

I don't think it works for a wedding...the wheels of your life have slowly fallen off...why am I really here...etc

Cigarettes and Alcohol.

We played Live Forever at our reception. They played it in a club on our second date so it reminds us of bellowing tunelessly at each other.

KatnissNeverdone · 31/08/2023 13:43

Slide Away? The acoustic version Noel sings is gorgeous.

JorisBonson · 31/08/2023 13:45

Acquiesce? Some lovely lyrics.

FoghornUnicorn · 31/08/2023 13:45

Another vote for Live Forever. I think it’s beautiful.

“We see things they’ll never see” is very romantic.

JofraArchersFastestBall · 31/08/2023 13:49

Married with children?!

My serious suggestions are slide away, or live forever. Hope you have an excellent day.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 31/08/2023 13:50

"You and I, you know we're going to live forever" sounds pretty perfect for a wedding!

Allthegoodnamestakken · 31/08/2023 13:52

Could you go for a music only / piano version of your favourite song? that way the lyrics won't matter but you will know it has meaning

BanditHeelerismyhero · 31/08/2023 13:55

I vote songbird as well. I know it’s not strictly oasis, but near enough. It was almost my waking down the aisle song but was piped at the post ☺️

sandstormboots · 31/08/2023 13:58

Another vote for Slide Away

cisisaslur · 31/08/2023 14:04

Stand by me

TheMasterplan23 · 31/08/2023 14:09

Yea Little by little would be great apart from the wheels falling off 😂

I did think about Noel’s - If I had a gun (acoustic) but as we’re getting married in a church I think the “you’re the only god that I will I ever need” might not be appropriate.

Talk tonight is a good shout…although that is DP and his brothers song (they always sing it together after a few pints) so that might not work either.

I think I’m overthinking it now….

Let there be Love?

Will you have the full version of the song you choose or cut it down for walking down the aisle?

TheMasterplan23 · 31/08/2023 14:24

Would ‘Stop crying your heart out’ be really weird?

The song means so much to me and we always sing it at the top of our voices in the car 😂 but people that don’t know the song might think it’s sad….where as to me, it’s a song about leaving your past and looking to the future.

And for those that suggested Songbird, it’s a great song….just doesn’t really have a special connection for me. (And Liam looked odd in the video 🤔😂)

@SingingSands

Ive thought about Let there be love and to me that makes the most sense and would probably make the most sense to everyone else….but I’m not sure I want it to make sense 😂 I don’t want it to be the ‘obvious choice’ I feel kinda like that about Slide Away too
