Circolo populare?

Lesina · 29/08/2023 22:05

Depends on what your 16 year old likes? My little goth loved The Prospect of Whitby out in Wapping. Oldest pub on the Thames (allegedly) galllws on the foreshore, the pelican steps down to the shore and superb view of Canary Wharf :)

Budget?! City social is fabulous with amazing views and really good food and service but it’s £££££

StrawberryPi · 29/08/2023 22:07

Brunswick house? The building is owned by Lassco and acts as an architectural salvage display, so the room is amazing and has about fifty chandeliers and huge antique mirrors all around. Plus the food is amazing, one of my faves!

CopperLion · 29/08/2023 22:07

a sixteen year old would probably love Sketch.

CopperLion · 29/08/2023 22:07

To clarify, sketch is modern and quirky, not classic at all!

StrawberryPi · 29/08/2023 22:08

Brunswick house photos!

The Ned? We've been for their Sunday feast before, I'm itching to go back!

RamblingRosieLee · 29/08/2023 22:11

Thank you.
Brunswick looks stunning but i think it's a bit far out for us..
Would prefer something central ish. Won't rule it out though.

Re sketch : I went many many moons ago before she was born and I have already looked at the menu and it's eye watering £££.

But that would have been perfect.
200 at a push for 4.

Where are you coming from? Vauxhall is an easy walk, bus or tube ride from Waterloo or Victoria! Admittedly a little further from King's Cross way, but I would say worth it!

DaneMum · 29/08/2023 22:18

Classic pub option: The Mayflower in Rotherhithe?

ArseMenagerie · 29/08/2023 22:20

I second any Big Mama restaurants esp Circulo Populare

RamblingRosieLee · 29/08/2023 22:21

@Takoneko only glanced but the Japanese place looks v promising.
She really likes japanese culture and sushi etc (not fish).

Have gone down well with my teen nieces / nephews:

Inamo, Covent Garden

Bob Bob Ricard, Soho

Gura Gura, Covent Garden

Darcie & May Green, Grand Union Canal

Sarastro, Covent Garden

Ave Mario, Covent Garden

Nearby in Marylebone is fischers - it’s insanely atmospheric in there, literally like being in Vienna in the ‘40s. I love it, so much.

cocksstrideintheevening · 29/08/2023 22:31

Dishoom?

thebiggestsaleever · 29/08/2023 22:33

https://www.bigmammagroup.com/en/trattorias/circolo-popolare / think it’s already been recommended but sounds like it would fit the bill.

Went to circolo populare recently and it was just awful.
Bad service and unfriendly staff.

When I got back I looked online and there are a lot of bad reviews.

Really cannot recommend it at all.

Will never go back as felt such a bad atmosphere there.
Shame as we were all so excited to go

RamblingRosieLee · 29/08/2023 22:39

That's the one Ave Mario, she really enjoyed that. We have eaten at dishoon in the past and enjoyed..

I was going to say exactly this 🍺
