For me:

Routine of a steady bedtime, a nice dinner & pudding at the end of the day, a tidy (ish) house and the ability to tuck myself in my bed at 8.30 if I wish!!! Heaven. I appreciate these simple but massively important things so so much now I’ve had to work hard to establish them and maintain them

Showers. Silence.

frozendaisy · 29/08/2023 19:59

The future.

Puffykins · 29/08/2023 20:01

Sleep. No one asking me a question.

Puffykins · 29/08/2023 20:03

Also coffee, and floors that aren't strewn with Lego.

Mummysatthebodyshop · 29/08/2023 20:04

Silence. Sleep.

Reginaldperrin · 29/08/2023 20:05

Silence for sure

Glenthebattleostrich · 29/08/2023 20:07

A night away with just my DH. We had our first in 13 years this week and reminded us that we actually really like each others company!!

HorribleHisTories15 · 29/08/2023 20:09

Cooking meals that we want to eat (not child friendly meals 90% of the time)

Wearing nice and well put together clothes

Sleeping in on the weekend

CuriousPorg · 29/08/2023 20:13

Definitely silence. Silence and a hot coffee.

BlueBlubbaWhale · 29/08/2023 20:13

A hot cup of tea, peeing in peace, being able to think without someone constantly talking at me

dearanon · 29/08/2023 20:14

A peaceful poo without someone shouting on me or deciding to come and sit with me.

1992H · 29/08/2023 20:15

Sleep. Silence, spice & my sanity. Oh & personal space!

Noicant · 29/08/2023 20:16

Silence, cooking new recipes, being done with my day when I feel like it, being out in the evening, not running my life to a schedule, no school and associated stuff (good grief the stuff). Being able to just read in peace.

WineIsMyCarb · 29/08/2023 20:16

Hot and cold plumbing
Sewerage
Washing machine
Dishwasher
Netflix
Car
Warm, damp-free house

Basically, reasonable 21st century living. Not available to everyone in 21st century. A luxuries though compared to anywhere in history.

MontblancTheSecond · 29/08/2023 20:17

Silence. Eight hours of uninterrupted sleep.
But also a newfound appreciation for things like pretty coloured leaves or grass. Or worms.

Mortimermay · 29/08/2023 20:17

Having nothing to do and no one asking me for anything. Silence. Sleep. Sleeping in at the weekend. Spontaneous trips out, days out with no time constraints due to babysitters.

WineIsMyCarb · 29/08/2023 20:18

Should add...

Because bringing up children as a farmer on the yorkshire moors as my grandparents were would have been bloody hard. Many parts of the world still like that.

Modern medicine.

Phos · 29/08/2023 20:19

When she sleeps longer than me on weekdays or days off and I can have a cup of tea and come round a bit!

DinnaeFashYersel · 29/08/2023 20:19

Lie ins

KvotheTheBloodless · 29/08/2023 20:21

Alone time. Sleep. Plus all the things in your OP!

I love my DS to pieces, he's the most marvellous child, but it's lovely to have a little bit of time off occasionally.

overwork · 29/08/2023 20:25

My parents. For how much they love my son, watching their relationship develop is just wonderful, for all they did for me when I was growing up which I just didn't appreciate, and for all they do for me and my little boy now.

OneMoreCookieMonster · 29/08/2023 20:26

HOT coffee
Getting tipsy - I miss wine and whiskey
Having a fuck it day and doing fuck all expect watching movies in bed
The bottom of the laundry basket, haven't seen that in months
A good bra
Work sweet work away from the kids, the H and the house
Conversations not related to kids, poo or shopping lists
Just taking time for myself or whatever the task is.

HeddaGarbled · 29/08/2023 20:26

Living somewhere “boring” aka, safe, quiet, family-friendly.

pumpkinpink · 29/08/2023 20:27

Time on my own, I so so miss being on my own. Just a regular few hours would be enough but it never happens and I'm desperate for it!

loverrr · 29/08/2023 20:30
