Will these trainers be acceptable for school?

I've purchased some trainers for my dc for secondary school. They are black Nike Air Force 1.
The school states that black trainers are acceptable with no logo or any colour.

When I originally read it, I took it as no coloured logos but now I'm worried if the Nike tick on it is unacceptable.

Has anyone else's dc wore these for school trainers and been ok?

Well they have a logo and it says no logo so probably not but really only school can tell you.
Most schools don’t allow trainers full stop and it’s better for kids feet to wear shoes all day than trainers. Also, because some kids will show up in air force 1’s while most can’t afford such shoes!

Photo?

It's difficult to buy trainers that don't have a logo.

My ds has asics trainers with their logo sewn into the sides as part of the structure of the shoes. But it's the same colour (black) as the background so fairly subtle.

As long as it's fairly subdued I don't think they'll mind.

Is he going into year 7? Its best to get some proper shoes that meet the criteria to start with then judge how strict the school are. My DD now wear a similar style to the Air force 1s but thats because he is in year 9 and knows that the school isn't very strict on it, the same way he has coloured in the stripes on his tie!

Don't start on the wrong foot in year 7.

Why don't you ask the school?

voxnihili · 29/08/2023 07:51

They would be fine in my school, as long as they are plain black. We wouldn’t allow plain black but with a white (or other colour) tick but the ones that are completely black are ok. I would think that if a school was so strict that they would even allow a plain black logo, they probably wouldn’t allow trainers in the first place. Of course, the actual school is the only place where you can get an accurate answer though.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 29/08/2023 07:52

Usually it’s no visible logo. I imagine you’ll be ok though. Black Air Force 1’s are what they all wear at my daughter’s school.

Sirzy · 29/08/2023 07:53

At Ds school it would be fine. At the neighbouring school it wouldn’t. You need to check with your school

The are like this

Will these trainers be acceptable for school?

They would have been perfectly ok at the secondary my kids went to but it’ll be down to each individual school what they accept. Name the school, if it’s not too outing for you, and you may get an answer specifically from someone with a child at that school.

Ifulikepinacoladas · 29/08/2023 08:03

They are standard in my DS school. No logo I would take to mean a logo of a different colour, so totally obvious.

4pink1blue · 29/08/2023 08:03

I've got air force ones for my daughter starting Yr 7. They are allowed at our school as long as the silver tag on the laces is removed. We have the same black, no logo rule.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 29/08/2023 08:07

I don't think there's a pair of trainers in existence that doesn't have a logo.

RausageSoul · 29/08/2023 08:13

Totally depends on the school. DS secondary do inspections and Nike AF1 are specifically mentioned as unsuitable in the handbook 🙄

RausageSoul · 29/08/2023 08:14

Just read that your school allows black trainers, these should be absolutely fine if you take the silver lace tag off

HappyAsASandboy · 29/08/2023 08:14

They'd be fine at DD's school. They're what she would like to wear, but no way am I spending that much on school shoes!

NoSquirrels · 29/08/2023 08:17

These are probably the most common shoe in our secondary - they’re black leather and can be polished, so are apparently fine.

thdskdrggs · 29/08/2023 08:36

They're not smart are they and that's the goal (she says having that exact pair!) the logo is clearly visible.

caringcarer · 29/08/2023 08:54

I've always just stuck to the rules and bought DC plain black leather shoes. They have trainers for after school.

Shopper727 · 29/08/2023 08:59

I think they would be ok, I got those for my son last year and he found them heavy and didn’t like them much. They both have Nike 97 this year. Our school isn’t strict on this they wear uniforms and blazers but not many wear non trainers. Af1 are expensive if they don’t allow him to wear them op

StressedToDeathhhh · 29/08/2023 09:04

My dd has these for PE but proper shoes for the rest of the day. Her school are a pain over shoes though

HappiDaze · 29/08/2023 09:33

Yes they are the best choice OP

Practically every DC in Secondary School wears these if they're allowed black trainers

Plus they're comfy and actually really good for their fry too

HappiDaze · 29/08/2023 09:34

*feet

Excellent choice OP

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 29/08/2023 09:35

If a school is happy with trainers, it is usually these.

DS's high school is not happy with trainers. Their rule of thumb is "shoes your granddad would wear to a funeral". They have examples on their website. Does your school show examples of suitable shoes?

Beetlewings · 29/08/2023 09:36

The leather all black air force ones are on the good list at ds's secondary. As long as the logo is the same colour as the shoe it seems they're fine

HappiDaze · 29/08/2023 09:36

The Nike tick logo is black so blends in which is why practically every Secondary school in the country allows these.
