Morning - me again! Really do love these threads & find them oddly comforting. Anyone up to much this Bank Holiday? At least it’s dry here in Cornwall, although there was a definite Autumnal nip in the air first thing. I was up early as usual because my lower back pain was making me feel sick & faint. Plus I saw pretty much every hour on the clock as I have a UTI. Have had several during menopause. Will have to sort antibiotics tomorrow. Also I took some extra oestrogen yesterday & that made me feel sick as well! There’s no hope!
The dishwasher is on & I’ve tidied the kitchen a bit. DD14 decided it was a good idea to make beans & cheese on toast at about 3am! I’d heard the microwave but didn’t know what she’d had until this morning. Half the tin had been chucked in the bin & she’d left out the milk, cheese & hot chocolate powder. More or less given up asking her to try to put stuff away!
DH is off today but I have to work later, although only for 4 hours. It was very busy on Saturday & could well be today. DH will probably go cycling at some point. He’s been planning to make his chocolate chilli for a few days now so hopefully we’ll have that for tea. It’s so good!

I got up with ds, he's been watching octonauts on a loop. Dd up now too. My sister is coming over with her 3 kids, I need to vacuum, twin proof the craft shelf, go to the shop, and make a crumble with Dd. I'm currently waiting for dh to get out of the bathroom!

Mrsjayy · 28/08/2023 08:10

It's quite sunny today in Scotland, nothing much happening drinking coffee stroking the dog, Dh is away to a course in England so he's talking about missing bank holiday traffic, it's all go here .

JaneJeffer · 28/08/2023 08:11

I'm in Ireland so no bank holiday. Instead it's back to school day Sad

I am a teacher and it's the start of term. I will be spending today working before going out with a friend for a couple of virgin drinks tonight.

My work is going to take most of the day, if I get a chance I might prep the themed birthday cake I promised one of my children which is due this week.

ImGoingThroughChanges · 28/08/2023 08:14

Back to school for us too hi @JaneJeffer
I am back to work tomorrow after a month off. Having a quiet day sorting out books. Kid went off with a happy face so that’s a relief!

NewLifeHappyLife · 28/08/2023 08:15

We are all still in pjs. I have made bacon butties for 2 Dcs and 1 cat, I am hoping we can go bike riding later.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 28/08/2023 08:16

Everyone but me is still in bed. I'm sitting in the armchair with a cup of tea, having fed the pets and am going to do a bit of knitting - morning before everyone is up is my favourite time to do it.

Nothing exciting going on here for Bank Holiday. The teen dc and I have a long summer holiday, so Bank Holiday is no different from any other day for us! Dh has the day off, so he's going fishing this afternoon. Ds and I are a bit bored and quite want to go back to school! Dd is off to university so that's exciting. We'll go for a dog walk today and I'll do some school work. It's sunny so far!

LadyDanburysHat · 28/08/2023 08:16

No Bank Holiday for me in Scotland, but most of my colleagues are in England, so I wil lhave a hopefully peaceful day at work, with not many interruptions,

Phos · 28/08/2023 08:18

I don’t really like mornings. I don’t mind getting up myself but my daughter is badly behaved so getting her up and ready to go anywhere is a challenge. We’ve booked swimming for this morning so currently battling to get her to agree to eat breakfast.

Otherwise bag is packed, already done one load of washing and hung it out and I’ve had a lovely breakfast (scrambled eggs on English muffin and some tea and oj) It’s nice and sunny so looking forward to spending time in the heated outdoor pool.

GnomeDePlume · 28/08/2023 08:18

Only people up are the dog and me.

I have ordered birthday cards (September is a busy birthday month and the cards are an important family tradition).

The dog is on high alert to keep the garden pigeon and helicopter free. 100% success rate with the helicopters but the pigeons line up on the fence and laugh at him.

Hummusanddipdip · 28/08/2023 08:19

I'm cuddled up on the sofa with the dog, starting to feel baby kicks at last, ds is eating breakfast and watching puffi rock (new favourite, less noisy than dinotrux thankfully) and dh is in bed asleep.

Mammma91 · 28/08/2023 08:20

Good morning! It’s not a bank holiday here, so we’re up, DS ready for nursery and sitting at the table having breakfast. I’m suffering terrible morning sickness so trying to eat some toast to keep the nausea at bay. Have a lovely bank holiday!

PurpleChrayne · 28/08/2023 08:21

DH has gone to synagogue for morning prayers. I'm feeding baby DS on the sofa while toddler DD plays shopkeepers. Soon we will go and pick DH up and go into town for a spin in the park and kosher pizza! Then home to chill for the rest of the day. We've put the heating on and it feels very autumny.

LucyWarlowsRightHand · 28/08/2023 08:23

Good morning! All is peaceful here chez Warlow. The sun is streaming in through the windows. I’ve just fed the cats, the DCs are
with their father for a few days and I have to put the last coats of paint on DD’s bedroom today. Am just enjoying a coffee before I really do have to get on the job, as once the sun comes over that side of the house I’ll have to stop.

So this morning will be spent listening to podcasts and trying not to get covered in paint.

DarkPsy · 28/08/2023 08:30

We're on holiday in a beautiful med country, deep blue sea just metres away, 33 degrees sunshine, and spectacular coastline all around us. So we're all huddled inside the hotel room nursing our various sunburns, bug bites, and prickly heat rashes. Damn English skin! We'll venture out in the afternoon for food and possibly a swim once it cools down.

It's the first time in years that I've been away and I've realised that I'm of an age where really I need my creature comforts to feel happy. I miss my bed, my pillows, my coffee, Oatley, fast Internet, decent teabags, the pets, and just my various knick knacks and possessions. I think all future holidays will be limited to 10 days maximum!

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 28/08/2023 08:30

Morning all!

DS(18) is poorly, awful hacking cough (not covid) so I'm keeping him away from me and leaving soup outside his door later. DD(14) is home today after a few days away with grandparents, to be honest I've missed her endless chatter! It's been very quiet without her.

It's a being brave day today. My physio and acupuncture is going very well (I'm in a wheelchair from nerve damage in my legs) and been walking around the living room with DH's support. Today we are going to try outside! Fingers crossed for no falling over.

Zero idea what we are doing for food...

EsmeeMerlin · 28/08/2023 08:30

Morning. I have just put a wash on and ds2 is watching numberblocks. DH is building some new bedside tables for our bedroom before he goes to work at 12. Nothing much planned for today. Ds1 will be home later from his weekend camping trip with his cubs group so I need to pop out in a little while for a bottle of drink and some chocolates for his cubs leader. She drove him there and back as well.

SandcastleQueen · 28/08/2023 08:30

I've just been downstairs playing Bluey with DD2's Bluey figures. It's Bluey's birthday and hi jinks are ensuing. My poor old mum who has come down to look after the kids next week has been struck down with a stomach bug and is lying in bed having been up all night...feeling very guilty as DD2 had a similar episode last Tues and I should have provided Mum some sort of biohazard suit 😓

thefinaltwist · 28/08/2023 08:31

No bank holiday here. My ds started high school 2 weeks ago and has brought home a lovely headcold. He and it ar the beginning of last week but was ok by Thursday. I've had it since Friday and dh has had it since yesterday. I'm of to work in a bit just having coffee and toast and a couple of painkillers. Dh was up at 5am for work and of course ds is still trying to get a day off school 🙄

Claysta · 28/08/2023 08:36

Morning all, both DD, DH and DS asleep still. Cat making her presence known and clearly wants feeding, I also need to feed the tortoise. We were at the Silverstone family day yesterday, so did lots of walking. No plans today, I do need to do a long walk at some point to prepare for a half marathon (walking) I’m doing end of Sept. Have a good day everyone.

MissingMoominMamma · 28/08/2023 08:37

DH worked last night, so he’s asleep in the spare bedroom. I’ve just cooked myself breakfast because I’m working later and if it’s busy, I don’t always have chance to eat. Now I’m sitting at the breakfast bar with the sun coming through the doors. Two of our dogs are dozing in the patches of warm light.

Might make another coffee ☺️.

Catsmere · 28/08/2023 08:38

Here in Oz it's Monday night and I'm heating up chicken stroganoff for dinner. Tomorrow is my knitting group, my one social day out of the house for the week!

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 28/08/2023 08:45

I was up through the night dealing with DS having nightmares and wetting the bed twice and DD running a fever so I'm shattered this morning 😴
DH is dozing in the armchair and the DCs are sorting through their toys to decide what they want to get rid of as part of a massive decluttering campaign I'm enforcing.
We have plans to do a lot of runs to the tip (so rock and roll!) and then we'll probably head out to the woods for a good long walk and a run around for a while.
Planning for a relaxed evening to get us ready for a mad last week of the summer holidays and hopefully a night of better sleep!

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 28/08/2023 08:47

I'm in Ireland so business as usual. DD started secondary school last week with a couple of introduction days; today is the start of her first full week. DS is still on holidays, he's back on Thursday but it's primary so not as momentous. DH has dropped DD in and gone in to the office for the day, so it's just me (working from home) and DS in the house. The cat is out patrolling the perimeter somewhere. The chickens have finished their morning meeting, so things have quietened down; they always have a lot of news to share first thing in the morning.

DS is doing physio for achilles tendonitis at the moment, and I'm about to go to my desk and start doins spreadsheety things. Later we'll cook lamb burgers and chips for when the others get home. I'll also be keeping an eye on daft.it for anymore houses going up; we're about to put ours on the market so we can move into town and not have to drive 15km 49 times a day to bring people in and out from school and scouts and dancing and art and music and playdates and everything else. Bikes and independence for all!

daffodilandtulip · 28/08/2023 08:49

Even the dog is still in bed here. Just having fruit pancakes and on my second cup of tea. Some prat was playing shit builder FM in his van outside at 6am so I'm angry about my missed lie in.
Started a new book yesterday so will finish that today after I walk the dog. Maybe a roast dinner later as it's a rare day that neither teen has plans.
A bit of prep for a busy week at work. I'm a childminder with most of my old babies leaving for school this week and new ones visiting. It'll be an emotional week!
