Morning - me again! Really do love these threads & find them oddly comforting. Anyone up to much this Bank Holiday? At least it’s dry here in Cornwall, although there was a definite Autumnal nip in the air first thing. I was up early as usual because my lower back pain was making me feel sick & faint. Plus I saw pretty much every hour on the clock as I have a UTI. Have had several during menopause. Will have to sort antibiotics tomorrow. Also I took some extra oestrogen yesterday & that made me feel sick as well! There’s no hope!
The dishwasher is on & I’ve tidied the kitchen a bit. DD14 decided it was a good idea to make beans & cheese on toast at about 3am! I’d heard the microwave but didn’t know what she’d had until this morning. Half the tin had been chucked in the bin & she’d left out the milk, cheese & hot chocolate powder. More or less given up asking her to try to put stuff away!
DH is off today but I have to work later, although only for 4 hours. It was very busy on Saturday & could well be today. DH will probably go cycling at some point. He’s been planning to make his chocolate chilli for a few days now so hopefully we’ll have that for tea. It’s so good!

I'm on the sofa drinking zero calorie Lewis Hamilton monster and listening to Creganford's latest blog about the Prometheus myth, and my parrot is battling my hair clip on the sofa next to me. My partner will be coming round in an hour so I should have a bath. We'll probably go for a walk along the river if there aren't too many tourists (unlikely) or away from the river if there are.

Wazzzzzuuuuuuup · 28/08/2023 09:30

Currently still in bed, listening to a podcast. Dh has made me coffee and hone out to the gym. He'll be straight to work afterwards, and home for dinner at 6.

All young adult dcs are at home (still in bed). Today I am finalising dd 18 uni shopping list and we're going to Dunelm and the Range for bedding and kitchen items.

Maybe a walk by the river later and a pint in the pub.

Dinner is salmon shashlik with vegetable rice and chapati. I'd like to finish my book and do some painting

Hangingtrousers · 28/08/2023 09:33

Everyone is in Pj's watching bluey. Dd1 is on her switch.
Got up at 6am and tidied up after roast yesterday. Intend to do very little today.

Just having breakfast before heading off to the airport for a trip to somewhere sunny. 37 degrees forecast for tomorrow.

Whattheduck · 28/08/2023 09:40

Just got back from taking the dog for a good walk she’s now curled up on the sofa
Dh and Dd still in bed
Just having a coffee and cereal then going to put another wash on and prepare the veg for a roast dinner which we’ll have tonight
Dh is working for a few hours this afternoon and Dd is off to the cinema so I’m going to potter about at home

I'm in Ireland so no bank holiday. Instead it's back to school day Sad

Janejeffer love the name 😆

hittingtheshelves · 28/08/2023 09:47

It's also dry here in Northumberland. DH has taken the kids out to a Roman reenactment day while I crack on with a bit of work as childcare is an issue this week. Really enjoying a quiet house. Must get off mumsnet and do some actual work now...

mondaytosunday · 28/08/2023 09:48

Way ahead of me today OP. No builders next door (loft extension) and no school kids yet (school the next block over) school couldn't believe it was already past 8 when I woke up this morning!
Dogs out to garden cats fed and I went back to bed. Might put washing machine on when I get back up (waiting for fasting period to end), and kitchen needs a tidy from dinner. I have to walk the dogs and post a letter do a bit of Etsy shop work - that's the sum total of my plans today!

17CherryTreeLane · 28/08/2023 09:58

I was up early to see Ds out to school and put a wash on, then went back to bed. Will take the dog out, do some gardening and then meet a friend for coffee later. Actual bliss, after a few hideous weeks at work.

I've been up since before seven as I don't sleep well and count that as a long lie. Two coffees and a cup of tea down. I've loaded the dishwasher, cleaned the food bin, had a shower, hoovered the house and I'm about to iron. Then I'll wash floors and have another cuppa. I'm waiting for a tradesman to quote but he didn't give a time, so I could be hanging about all day. Probably he'll turn up just as I wash the floors. This afternoon I have a painting I want to finish.

hohumpigsbum · 28/08/2023 10:04

Good morning everyone!

DH and I are in our PJs, watching Come Dine With Me and eating apricot wheats. I've folded some washing and put a new load on and hopefully I can get that hung up before we go out later.
DC have had chocolate porridge and are now in the garden riding their scooters and trying to carry their umbrellas at the same time. One is dressed as an astronaut and another as a princess (oldest is above dressing up now). I'm trying to keep noise to a minimum as always worried we'll disturb the neighbours.
Today we've got a birthday party in the morning, then we're off to a local village fete this afternoon. It should be a nice day 😊

JaneJeffer · 28/08/2023 10:56

Thanks @Acorncat1

Hillbilly · 28/08/2023 11:47

Notting Hill Carnival on today so DD has a bunch of her mates round for pre carnival drinks in the garden and last minute adjustments to outfits. Expecting DS's mates to turn up soon 😊

travelogue · 28/08/2023 12:55

I'm still in PJs because didn't go to bed until 4am due to picking up DD from Reading Festival. Have now approximately 5 mins to get dressed before DH & other family arrive they've been out visiting people. DD has not yet emerged. Youngest DS is here and on gadgets, and has been all morning I think. I haven't got the energy to care! Chicken is in the oven with lovely smells of garlic, lemon and herbs wafting out. Could be worse. But must get dressed!! Ugh. Knackered!

grannycake · 28/08/2023 13:04

Good afternoon. May I join in. Today I have washed and hung out some washing as it's a rare dry day here in south Wales. Have walked the dog and made salmon fishcakes for later.

We are mid renovation so sorted some rubbish for a tip run, found a new home for camp bed and I am going to watch the cycle racing this afternoon on TV

Hawthornberry · 28/08/2023 13:07

I've just arrived home from my daughter's wedding yesterday. It's been the most incredible weekend and I'm very happy but exhausted so am going to bed with a mug of tea for a bit!

HerculesMulligan · 28/08/2023 13:11

DD4 has a vomiting bug so we've had to cancel our plans. DS9 and I went to the supermarket and bought new Lego / Duplo and some nice food, but arrived home to Thames Water turning everything off, so now I wish I'd bought bottled water too. Every saucepan and the bath is full, so nothing we can do but hunker down.

DH is watching the Vuelta, DD is playing with a construction kit on the carpet, I'm finishing some birthday present shopping as it's DD's birthday on Friday and DS is doing his Lego while singing the opening song from Hamilton under his breath.

legosunqueen · 28/08/2023 13:46

A quiet day today, I'm pretty tired as went to Leeds Fest yesterday to see the Killers - brilliant gig but didn't get home until 1.30am & had to be up around 7.30am with DDog. Done a wash, some ironing & a dog walk this morning, DH is working & I am now waiting for DS to return from 5 days at Leeds Fest with his mates...so there will be more washing to do for sure! I'll make a cottage pie with lots of veg this evening as an antidote to the junk food he's been living on for the last few days...

There's a definite autumnal feel today so I will order some logs for the wood burner today too, & read a bit of my book before back to work tomorrow.

Chipsahoy · 28/08/2023 14:03

Love these. I’m in Scotland so no bank holiday here. I’ve just picked up youngest ds (he’s 5) from school as he’s still doing shorter days after starting school last week.
Older dc are at school. Dh works for an English company so has today off. He’s currently putting in beams in his office (reno project house).
Sun is shining so me and ds3 are just about to go play outside

TheScottishPlay · 28/08/2023 14:19

I'm off work this week and got up at 8am just as DH was leaving. It started off sunny here in NE Scotland. After cereal and my game changing mushroom coffee, I went out to weed one of the borders. I've been stung twice by a wasp whilst out!
Just had a late lunch with DS (19) and about to help him sort through clothes etc as he's going back to uni next week. We'll make a list for a wee shopping trip later in the week as he needs new bedding, underwear etc.

Keeping an eye on the washing as it's just got really dull here.
I empathise with pp's DS as I need to do my physio for achilles tendonitis too.
