WWYD if you'd just got in from a 14 hour day?

Light hearted I guess but I'd be interested to see if anyone else is just totally wiped out after a manic day at work. Main job is NHS but I also work in hospitality to top up income. I've just got in from a mad day at the hotel where I've been setting up/waitressing and clearing up from a wedding.
All I've managed to do so far is kick off my shoes and flop on the sofa with a glass of wine. BF says I should at least go and have a shower cos my feet/tights stink and I've got gravy down my skirt 🙄
He has at least made dinner, but am I within my rights to tell him to fuck off just at this very moment?

Yes, you are within your rights to tell him to fuck off.

if he's that bothered he can bring a bowl
of hot water in with some lovely foot scrub & soap and wash your poor feet! Then when he's dried them gently he can massage them with some nice foot relief/oil/cream and put some light socks on them.

i wouldn't last 14 hours these days!

Magnoliainbloom · 27/08/2023 22:43

Yes you are. You do it in your own time.

KnownByAssociation · 27/08/2023 22:46

I can't help but think if this thread was about a husband everyone would say he was disgusting at it only takes 5 minutes to have a quick shower.

I am on your side though 😂 the aching feet will feel awful but hopefully the wine takes the edge off quickly! I hope you have a day off tomorrow 🙂

OnAMidnightTrainToGeorgia · 27/08/2023 22:51

I couldn't relax and enjoy my wine until I'd showered and changed

My work environment is grim grim grim, I would still be smelling it on myself!

Deathbyfluffy · 27/08/2023 22:55

I couldn’t sit there knowing I smelled, maybe he has a point.
Tell him to fuck off if you want, but if he’s made tea etc I can’t say I find fault with what he’s done / said.

Saschka · 27/08/2023 22:56

Drink your wine, eat your tea, then shower and into bed.

AndTheSurveySays · 27/08/2023 22:58

Sweaty feet is a horrible smell. I'd shower then relax with wine.

Givenupgivingashit · 27/08/2023 23:05

Yeah I know maybe I am just a minger. I've got as far as taking my jacket off and loosening my tie so I'll shower after dinner. I'm just too tired to move. Love the idea of him bathing my feet though!

OP posts:
TerrorOwls · 27/08/2023 23:06

Ask him to run you a bath

2jacqi · 27/08/2023 23:08

i dont do anything after work till I have had had at least one cup of coffee!!! he needs to give you a break! perhaps he can do the part time job?

mushroommummy · 27/08/2023 23:09

Some of these posters have clearly never worked a 14hr shift never mind one in a hotel or hospital.

after my shifts I can barely move, you need to wind down first and then shower. Ps you must really need the ££ I couldn’t think of 2 worst industries to work in atm!! Well done you, you’re a trooper.

Nugg · 27/08/2023 23:10

Same situation as you and so fucking glad I'm single cos I shower and rink wine when I bloody want 🤣
Ask him to wash your sweaty feet lol

TyneTeas · 27/08/2023 23:11

I want to say you should just stay there until you are ready, understanding that you are v tired, but then I am thinking how bad dh would have to smell before I actually went as far as telling him that he needed to go and shower now : {

And haha can't see him doing that tbh!

I think it was half joking but I can never tell sometimes cos he'll often say that I stink if I've had a busy day, or if I come in after a hotel shift and my shirt has come untucked or I've loosened my tie he'll say I'm scruffy!

When I get in after a day like that (also nhs and also similar hours) I put on my pjs, have some dinner and watch tv. Give my kids some attention too. Nothing more.

Personally I’d nip for a quick shower and expect him to to m some food

NameChangeEmbarressed · 27/08/2023 23:19

Might have a quick shower (with a shower cap because bugger doing my hair after a day like that) whilst he heats my tea but often not

GoingToBeLessRubbishAtLife · 27/08/2023 23:19

Feet in nylon tights all day must honk. I was sitting next to someone who took her shoes off unexpectedly once, I swear the air curdled with the foul odour released.

When I was NHS I would sit in the kitchen with shoes on, drink/eat, then shoes off and shower.

Oh well if his level is that you aren't shower fresh as standard then wait until you can be bothered!

Some people see things as a ceiling not to rise above and some see them as a floor not to drop below

There is a Goldilocks zone.

If he is in the kitchen sorting you out something to eat you won't be offending his delicate little olfactory system, send him off to do something useful and relax!

OnAMidnightTrainToGeorgia · 27/08/2023 23:24

I had to stay in work today. Not allowed to leave until issues were sorted so had a 13 hr shift

Not hospitality or nhs but still have to shower second I'm home.

Hair wash as well!

Oh yeah I'm sure they do but I seem to spend most of my working life in tights so it's tough luck really. He either gets them after a shift on the ward or waitressing - I haven't got time to be faffing changing just cos he's offended. Usually it's just me and the kids anyway and they're as bad!
