WWYD if you'd just got in from a 14 hour day?

Light hearted I guess but I'd be interested to see if anyone else is just totally wiped out after a manic day at work. Main job is NHS but I also work in hospitality to top up income. I've just got in from a mad day at the hotel where I've been setting up/waitressing and clearing up from a wedding.
All I've managed to do so far is kick off my shoes and flop on the sofa with a glass of wine. BF says I should at least go and have a shower cos my feet/tights stink and I've got gravy down my skirt 🙄
He has at least made dinner, but am I within my rights to tell him to fuck off just at this very moment?

Oh yeah I'm sure they do but I seem to spend most of my working life in tights so it's tough luck really. He either gets them after a shift on the ward or waitressing - I haven't got time to be faffing changing just cos he's offended. Usually it's just me and the kids anyway and they're as bad!

I know you’re just having a vent etc, but one thing I did that you might find comfortable is wear thin black trainer socks under tights, you couldn’t see the ‘sock line’ when I put my shoes on. And I hated the seam of the tights getting near my toes so it made it more comfortable too.

14-hour day? I'd be straight into a very quick shower. I couldn't relax otherwise.

What job did you do that for? I don't know if I'd get away with it cos I occasionaly wear crocs if I'm trying to give my shoes a rest depending on how much of a running around day I've got. Might work for waitressing though

Ward HCA. But I always wore leather shoes and they were very comfortable so I was more than happy to have another hour in them (not walking around my home, just sitting in the kitchen) after a full day.

I actually think you’ll feel better for a quick shower and clean and more comfortable clothes/pyjamas. That would be the first thing I’d do.

Have you ever tried Snag tights? They're the comfiest ever - loads of my colleagues wear them too

Although appreciate you are knackered, I would feel smelly and sweaty after that long working, so I'd be taking my grotty clothes off, straight into shower then a clean nightie would make me feel so fresh.

I wouldn't take kindly to anyone else telling me that I had to do those things though!

I’ve not but are they the ones that advertise a lot of brightly coloured tights? They look great. I don’t actually do that job anymore though so I’m not wearing tights so much.

I used to work long hospitality shifts too when I was a student…. Admittedly I have a very strong sense of smell but I couldn’t cope with my own stench when I arrived home! In the future, I’d suggest he runs you a hot bubble bath for when you get home, candles and wine to hand. You can jump straight in and have a soak, drink your wine and freshen up, then into pjs whilst he’s sorting your tea. Won’t take longer than 15-20 mins.

I had to stay in work today. Not allowed to leave until issues were sorted so had a 13 hr shift

Not hospitality or nhs but still have to shower second I'm home.

Hair wash as well!

Rather depends if your shift has been spent on your feet running around, carrying trays, serving people abd clearing dirty crockery.
a 13 hr day at a desk is a piece of piss compared. I know as I've done both.

@DaphneDeloresMoreheadRidesOn

Definitely not sat down. Men's prison. With all that comes with it!

when I come home from work (hospital, acute setting - often involving multiple types of bodily fluids) - I never sit down or touch anything (until i have washed my hands). although get changed before leaving, the change rooms are disgusting. clothes I wore go into a special laundry basket to be washed at 60 degrees and I hop into the shower. then I usually take my dinner to bed (I know it's rank) and fall asleep watching TV... I do this partly due to hygiene and partly because once I sit down after work, I just can't move....

This🤞

Hopefully you are getting a well deserved rest now though Op. Take care.
