What household tasks do you contract out?

I need to reduce what I do around the house/garden. I’ve got cleaner and robot lawn mower on my wish list but anything else that helps? Any cool subscription services?

Not an ironing person so don’t need a regular ironing service. I’m good at food shopping/cooking for the most part 🤔

Window cleaner and oven deep clean.

cinnamonfrenchtoast · 26/08/2023 14:27

Just the window cleaner.

FinallyHere · 26/08/2023 15:57

What household chores take up the most of your time. ?

A cleaner will certainly clean, would you like them to strip and make up the beds, too. Do the laundry for bedding and/or clothing?

Our laundry service is new this year, we fill and leave the laundry bag they provide outside our front door before 7am and it is back, washed and ironed by 2pm. Absolute magic.

We also have gardener, window cleaner and oven clean.

Online grocery shopping weekly.

Embarrassingparent · 26/08/2023 16:05

Gardening is the only one at the moment but if I can find a local Laundry and ironing service I will outsource that as a matter of priority.

Shinyandnew1 · 26/08/2023 16:06

Just the window cleaning.

pilates · 26/08/2023 16:07

Window cleaning and deep clean oven once a year

ichundich · 26/08/2023 16:08

Window cleaning, mowing, car clean.

jackstini · 26/08/2023 16:10

Do you mind admin?
Not cleaning I know but still a household task

You can get a virtual PA to do insurance renewals, book holidays, send birthday cards/gifts...

Wardrobe fairy to clear out old/unsuitable clothes and suggest key missing pieces

GuardiansPlayList · 26/08/2023 16:11

Oven cleaning. That’s it.

chopc · 26/08/2023 16:13

@jackstini do you okie how much a virtual PA costs?

dynastyfan · 26/08/2023 16:30

Cleaners
Gardeners
Ironing when needed
Window cleaner
Car valeting
Gutter cleaning as needed
Odd job person as needed

CaramelicedLatte · 26/08/2023 16:44

Window cleaner, but just for the front of the house as we can reach even the first floor at the back, and a gardener. We can't maintain the garden alone and he's extremely reasonably priced.

Toooldtoworry · 26/08/2023 16:51

Just cleaner for me. I do everything else control freak

CMOTDibbler · 26/08/2023 17:11

Cleaner/ housekeeper - so all cleaning, a lot of tidying (inc sorting cupboards), ironing, laundry
Windows
Decorating
Once our building work is finished we'll be getting regular car washing and I'm looking for a regular handyman

jackstini · 26/08/2023 21:16

Someone was on a thread earlier this week talking about their pa - based in Malaysia I think - will try and find it

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 26/08/2023 21:33

Some things here I hadn’t thought of, car valeting service & I hadn’t thought to ask a cleaner to change bedding.

Considering a robot mower but hedgehogs get injuries off them, not seen a hedgehog here at all in 10 years but one would appear the minute I got a robot mower.

Life admin I’m ok with, no kids etc so not much paperwork.

Actually I do need a yearly oven clean.

Cleaner who puts bedding on weekly/occasional deep clean.
Robot mower/gardener.
Yearly oven clean.
Window cleaner.

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 27/08/2023 07:17

Robot litter tray.

Cats a bit dense but she might surprise me. Sometimes I think she’s faking it.

Monthly car valet inside out. Twice weekly clean outside.

NewLifeHappyLife · 27/08/2023 07:21

I have a weekly cleaner. She is essential to me but I do obviously also clean!

I have fortnightly gardeners. They cost about £100 a month or so. They just keep on top of things and keep it from looking too horrendous.

I have just engaged a window cleaner for the outside only. £50 every 3 months.

NewLifeHappyLife · 27/08/2023 07:22

Oh yes- and oven twice a year

continentallentil · 27/08/2023 07:22

@FinallyHere

What laundry service to you use? I tried one but it was pretty terrible.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 27/08/2023 07:52

Gutter cleaning

Conservatory clean once every 6 months or so

Driveway maintenance every quarter

You car gets cleaned twice a week? 😱

Ozziedream · 27/08/2023 08:00

we have a housekeeper who changes bed linen and I time grocery delivery so she puts that away too. She also sorts out kids clothes and organises drawers etc

super king bed sheets are collected to be laundered and ironed and dropped back a day later

indoor and outdoor window cleaners

fortnightly Gardners who blitz lawns and keep on top of weeding and pruning

(and an ironing lady once a week but you’re not an ironer)
