I need to reduce what I do around the house/garden. I’ve got cleaner and robot lawn mower on my wish list but anything else that helps? Any cool subscription services?

Not an ironing person so don’t need a regular ironing service. I’m good at food shopping/cooking for the most part 🤔

Meant 1 x every two weeks.

Ironing, cleaning, dog walking on PT work days, car washing

I’d keep the ironing over everything else even food if I gave up work

Toddler101 · 27/08/2023 08:05

Hello Fresh - meal planning and large portion of shopping done ✅

avocadotofu · 27/08/2023 08:07

We have a cleaner who does all the cleaning as well as changing sheets.

HelterSkelter224 · 27/08/2023 08:07

Fortnightly clean, window cleaner, dog walker

MsSquiz · 27/08/2023 08:08

We have:
Window cleaner - monthly
Cleaner - weekly
Lady who does the ironing - fortnightly
Gardener - fortnightly
Oven cleaner - twice a year
Car valet - quarterly
Gutters & fascias - twice a year

Jackienory · 27/08/2023 08:10

I have a cleaner and a gardener. Used to have a nanny too.

AHelpfulHand · 27/08/2023 08:19

Cleaner (doesn’t change beds)
gardener
window cleaner
bin cleaner
car cleaner (he’s very expensive so only every 4 months or so)

bedding gets taken to the laundrette and comes back ironed etc.

cleaner used to do the ironing but I do that now.

ChipshopPickledEgg · 27/08/2023 08:23

Ironing lady
We did have a cleaner until she retired we innocently thought we would do it ourselves - nope, we are looking for a new one.
Need a gardener too.
Car cleaner.
Bin cleaner
People say we're lazy but also should use local businesses so this is using local people.

@continentallentil

Tried a couple of franchise laundry services(ihateironing and laundryheap) which were very flexible, would pick up anytime and were ok but nothing to write home about.

Now we use a family run service recommended by a casual facebook acquaintance and are blown away by how good they are. We joke that they must use a cellar ful of house elves.

They weight the laundry bag(s) and charge by weight. Bedding (we only have white cotton) and DH's shirts/t shirts/PJs. Dreadful memories of the school laundry shrinking things mean that I don't send my own clothes but then the most I do to my own things would be to run a steamer over them occasionally unlike DH's white shirts

It's good but so far we have only been able to secure a fortnightly slot on Monday mornings. Fortunately they do work through bank holidays. We are in the queue should a weekly slot become available. We have plenty of bedding, it just means we have sheeting waiting over a week.

Not the worst that could happen,In the scheme of things, now I come to write that.

OhDoh · 27/08/2023 09:05

Window cleaner and gardener

FinallyHere · 27/08/2023 09:07

Completely forgot to mention car wash as I very lazily use the one at work as a valet park service, so once a week unless I get a parking space right outside the building were I work.

FinallyHere · 27/08/2023 09:07

Agree that it is a good thing g to be using local services.

FinallyHere · 27/08/2023 09:11

And a god send now that DH is increasingly elderly and frail. It seems to be easier for him to accept and outside service for eg his shirts than to see me doing something g he used to do himself. Sigh.

FoodFann · 27/08/2023 09:11

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 27/08/2023 07:53

You car gets cleaned twice a week? 😱

I barely do mine twice a year!

thatsn0tmyname · 27/08/2023 09:15

Window cleaner ( because I'm not a fan of ladders).

WasThereAnotherTroyforHertoBurn · 27/08/2023 09:15

Ironing lady -Weekly
Cleaner - Weekly
Dog walker - Daily
Window cleaner - In theory every six weeks, in reality whenever he turns up
Gardener - Every two weeks
Oven clean (twice a year)

We are retired so this makes life nice and easy, after years of working. We know we are lucky.

BarrelOfOtters · 27/08/2023 09:17

Cleaner, hedge cutting guy, wheelie bin cleaner.

used to have an ironing service for dhs work shirts. I never ironed them but he used to be very slow when he did them himself. They’ve gone smart casual now and it’s polo shirts all the way.

outsource day time dog care to in laws.

User15387500 · 27/08/2023 09:19

Cleaner
gardener
bin cleaner
cars and caravan cleaner
online grocery
oven cleaner
window cleaner

We are retired and I don't like housework

margotmargeaux · 27/08/2023 09:25

Cleaner twice a week.
Car valetted
Grocery deliveries twice a week
Oven clean
Bedding and towels laundered for me once a week

Nothing gets ironed in my house but if it did I'd pay someone to do that for me, I loathe ironing.

Phos · 27/08/2023 09:29

We have cleaners who come once a week to do the kitchen, floors, bathrooms, dusting that kind of thing. We do little spot cleans in between.

A gardener every few weeks during summer to cut lawn and do a bit of weeding.

Someone to come do an oven deep clean every 4-6 months.

I would outsource laundry but its an expense that I can avoid. I have outsourced holiday washing though once or twice.

letmesailletmesail · 27/08/2023 09:48

Cleaner twice a week - cleans whole house, changes beds & irons on a Monday, cleans downstairs on a Friday (so it is presentable if people come over at the weekend!). Will do extra hours as & when (eg every six months or so they do the inside windows)
Gardener once a fortnight for 3hrs to just keep on top of it
Mower person once a fortnight
Window cleaner once every six weeks or so
The oven cleaner messages me every six months or so to ask if it needs a clean. I usually say yes!
The handyman messages me every three months or so to ask if I need anything done. Again, it's usually yes.
The tree surgeon messages me once a year to ask if we need any work doing. Again, it's usually yes (we have a hedge of mature trees).
The oven cleaner, handyman & tree surgeon were all surprised when I asked them to message me but it works well for them so they quickly agreed.

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 27/08/2023 10:04

Your favourite takeaway ought to text you on a Friday night.

”Usual?”
”Yes”

Two cleaners, for two hours (together, so four hours) per week - £60 per week.

Visiting gardener who cuts the lawn, prunes, tidies etc - £45 per fortnight

Windowcleaner (paid for from a service charge on our street, so not sure what he's paid)

Very occasionally send out bedding - our local laundrette will pick up and drop back - I did four single sets and one king sized set recently and they were washed and dried (not ironed) for £28.

Handyman stuff - we have no DIY skills so we use a London-wide handyman service and have British Gas Homecare for plumbing and electrics.
