I’ve visited every county in England, apart from Kent.

Dds asked what counties I’ve been to and after looking at the map I realised I have properly physically visited all of them (not just driven through), apart from Kent.

I think I should go to Kent now even though it’s a total pain in the arse to get to from where I live in the north west.

What would draw a person to Kent?

Ahem: Camber Sands is in E Sussex. As is the lovely Rye.

But that E Sussex / Kent border is so history-rich and beautiful anyway.

Dover Castle is fantastic. And inside The castle there’s a Roman lighthouse (Roman!) right next to a Saxon church. It’s brilliant.

Well worth going a day early to the ferry for!

When I saw your title, I thought 'Wow! That's a lot', but then started thinking about it, and realise I have probably been to the vast majority of Counties (in England and Wales anyway - not Scotland or NI).

I'm off to find a list and see.
Some, of course, have changed since I've been, but.....

I think you have to view it as mid gentrification. Don’t go thinking that it’s going to be a beautiful, genteel coastal town because it’s definitely not. Parts of it are downright rough. But there are other parts that wouldn’t be out of place in the most cosmopolitan of areas.

Also, @bellac11, I completely agree with you. Proper south Londoners would roll their eyes at the idea that Bromley is in London.

Im not sure I know what you mean. I am a 'proper' South Londoner, Im from Penge/Anerley, which is in Bromley, which is in London (and Kent)

@bellac11
I have indeed been to Rutland. I went to school there for two years and in 2020 I cycled round Rutland water which was extremely pleasant. Indeed I started a thread on mumsnet about the best treatment for haemorrhoids whilst cycling in Rutland from which I received some excellent advice and was thus able to enjoy my day of circumnavigating the watery landmark.

Excellent news because its the smallest county in England I think?

I realised after you started this thread Ive also visited every county, usually for holidays. I would say the most underrated counties are the midlands.

Some fabulous national trust properties including the former homes of Rudyard Kipling and Vita Sackville West.

Killing lived at Batemans in Sussex- where did he live in Kent?

@frenchfancy81
sorry, Sussex, not Kent.
