Can anyone ID this spider for me? It's just strolled across the carpet like it owns the place, and I've never seen one quite like it before...

Google is telling me it's a brown recluse spider, common in North America and also venomous and now I am shitting myself (caught it in a glass and threw it in the garden)... are there more??? Has it got mates?????? Babies?!

Eeeeeeeekkk. Oh and I am fucking terrified of spiders, it's taken a lot of bravado and general 'oh look a teeny tiny spider' (no-one else to deal with the fuckers here and dd is only five and don't want to pass on my terror to her) whilst internally screaming...

@Turquioseblue there is a reason I chose to stay in the UK when my friends all moved to Australia. And spiders were a BIG reason 😁

Abdomin has the skull but leg's don't look like a false

Fackin hate spiders. And guess where I'm from.. Ive seen people screaming and pulling over on busy roads PLENTY of times to know that Aussies are scared of spiders too.

The spider from yesterday could have been a woodlouse spider?

We have a spider on our porch which I can only describe as looking like a Huntsman but a 5p version. We keep googling to identify it but we haven't found anything similar in the UK

Cause obviously nobody wants a huge spider landing on their face while driving!

bangbangcauliflower · 25/08/2023 22:25

@AussieBlue good to know that even Aussies share our fears! Even if yours are ten times the size of ours...

So I've spent quite some time studying spider pics this evening, and also joined a spider ID group, for someone who bloody hates them and I've decided spider no. 1 (RIP) is (was) a stone spider (as suggested up thread) and spider no. 2 is a missing sector orb web... who has happily been relocated in the garden. Although, he was not happy about it, kept waving his massive feelers at me and looking like he was about to sell his story to the DM...
