I don't like the way edited posts look

Shut your eyes

Didn't take long for someone to complain about it 🤣 its not like its on every comment 🤦‍♀️

MillicentTrilbyHiggins · 24/08/2023 01:58

What do you mean by the way they look? They look the same, other than saying "edited" underneath.

Edited to see if it does in fact look different. Even though it didn't earlier.

Interesting - and if you click on it you can still see what it originally said. I guess that gets round the "A says puppies are cute, B says I agree, A edits post to say puppies should be beaten with golf clubs" issue.

Oh that's interesting

It is a bit over-large and eyecatching. But it exists, finally!

Musicaltheatremum · 24/08/2023 14:20

I couldn't find it yesterday. Writing to see if it works today

gamerchick · 24/08/2023 14:20

We've waited years and years for it OP. It just means the post is a bit bigger.

Musicaltheatremum · 24/08/2023 14:21

Is it only available on the website as it's not on my app. I'm using android

Pinkywoo · 24/08/2023 14:43

It makes the post smaller not bigger for me?

They look the same on the app other than the "edited" bit at the bottom, that bit was in italics before but is showing up as a link on the app now to see the post before it was edited.

But I know the app has always been different since it doesn't have pages within a thread like on the site.

GeraldTheGoodMouse · 24/08/2023 15:37

Now that we have giant photos, giant links and bloody giant gifs, the edit button feels quite unobtrusive tbh.

coxesorangepippin · 24/08/2023 15:53

Years and years?? Really??

I've been on here years and can't say it's exactly been something to get excited about

It makes my posts smaller too

But good to know you can see the original comment

That's a thing now?

yellowpurplebrown · 24/08/2023 16:03

Wait what?!! We've got an edit function???! When did this happen?!

Right hold my drink I need to practice...

Edit this line....

yellowpurplebrown · 24/08/2023 16:04

I can't see how to edit.. iPhone app... how is it done please?

ReeseWitherfork · 24/08/2023 16:06

Three dots next to bookmark, click edit. There’s a ten minute time limit.

Edited posts look exactly the same for me.

BananaSlug · 24/08/2023 16:07

Doesn't work on the app apparently I wouldn't know though I never use the app.

It's not on the app yet. You can see others' edits but can't edit on it at the moment. I think they said it was coming though.

Sirzy · 24/08/2023 16:10

The only difference for me is the bubble saying edited at the bottom.

Kitten GIF

Gifs you say? 🤔

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 24/08/2023 16:28

I don't understand what the fuss (in favour or against having an edit button) is about really. Typing a subsequent post correcting your error took no more effort than using the edit button does now, and either way your original post is still visible. So what's the point?

Because in the time it takes you to write a second post correcting the first, 15 people will have posted laughing at your typo
