Anyone had their kitchen cupboards paint sprayed?

I hate my kitchen as it's that awful orangey wood. But I can't afford to redo it any time soon.

Has anyone had theirs sprayed by one of those companies? If so, would you mind sharing the cost (I know it will vary on kitchen size but would like a ball park) and how long it lasted before chipping please?

I'm trying to find pricing for this too. Not had much luck. Found one company but they want a large deposit which puts me off them.

My neighbours had theirs vinyl wrapped. No idea on cost, but it looked great. They've moved now, so I don't know how it's wearing.

I guess I just need a rough idea on price rather than going through the hassle of organising a quote if it's totally beyond my means so if anyone can help I'd be grateful!

I haven't, but I know two people who have, one within the last few months. Neither were a success and deteriorated quite quickly. The recent one, the tradesman is arguing they've either used too harsh a cleaner or it's been spashed with oil, both things that are going to happen in a kitchen. He's very convinced it must be their fault, but can't say precisely what caused the damage.

I had mine vinyl wrapped. It wasn't cheap (neither is spraying), but a lot cheaper and less disruptive than a new kitchen. The transformation was amazing. It comes with a 5 year guarantee and still looks like new 3 years on.

Mine's a big kitchen, runs right across the back of a 60s detached 4 bed and vinyl wrapping cost just over £3k 3 years ago.

Yes. You need to get someone who uses a 2 parter system. It’s basically truck paint - stinks but the smell goes quickly. Our kitchen of about 12 units was £700 + vat with a local guy. 10 year warranty. Looks fab.

Another option might be to have a chat with a local car body sprayer
DH has done a couple of his mates' kitchen doors and uses very hard finishes, it's primed, painted and lacquered like a prestige car (but he just does it as a favour, not commercially).

Ha! Snap! I think our guy used to be a car sprayer.

We ended up painting ours with primer, paint and varnish. Made the distressed look part of it as couldnt get a,smooth finish so shabby chic is,still very much a thing here. New handles. Its not a new kitchen but its no longer orange pine everywhere.

I shouldn’t say badly chipped. It’s beginning to chip, after 3 years. Still disappointing though.

I wrapped mine myself using DC Fix. I was amazed at the result! Very easy to do and not expensive at all. Wipe clean and very strong too.

We painted ours with hammerite universal, it lasted a couple of years before chipping, I painted it myself.
then we bought new custom doors from kitchen door workshop, was around £380 for the doors (medium kitchen) and £200 for local handyman to fit them.

I painted mine with little Greene paints 3.5 years ago. They’re still pretty good b it I have touched up a few scuffs.

We had orangey wood too but Shaker doors which I love. Some we did it ourselves- I cleaned and scrubbed using sugar soap at least 3 times. Hubby sanded doors down, used a primer and the we used a trade acrylic paint (made to colour of our choice). Changed handles and paid to get someone in to for splashback and new cooker hood. End result is light, dreamy, and on trend. We have a some paint peeling away on drawers at the top but its minimal, hardly notice it and been meaning to touch it up..been 2 years

I bought some B&Q cupboard paint. It's £40 and painted them myself.
I redid them last week after 2/3 years I think I did it first lockdown. Still a little bit of paint left. They only chipped a little. I replaced the handles and they looked great.
Really crappy B&Q kitchen but can't afford to replace it. They were originally orangey laminate. I used an off white which is matched with one of the tile colours

I was recently given a quote of £2,800 for spraying our small-medium sized kitchen. They seem very professional but it's more than I expected, and I can't afford it.

Quotes have almost doubled in the past 2 years.

I recently got 2 rooms painted, it cost twice as much as it did to paint the same size rooms two years ago. And I got quotes from 3 different painters. So I would imagine that painting kitchens has also doubled.

its not a huge kitchen but decent, 21 doors (each 60cm x 72cm roughly) , built in fridge full height, full height double width cupboard with 4 larger doors , 3 big drawers for pots and pans and 10 smaller drawers
Includes wrapping worktops (60cm x 7m area roughly)
includes baseboards

came in at £3090 with the normal vinyl range, which is smooth. The premium range which is thicker and has a slight grain texture and looks more matte was quoted £3900

We did it ourselves 2 years ago. Sugar soaped, sanded and painted with brush / roller using B&Q paint - it has lasted really well in a house of 6 (so takes some abuse). New cheapo handles from Amazon, bought tile paint and it looks like a completely new kitchen for less than a couple of hundred quid.

I’ve been investigating this and by far the cheapest solution I’ve found is buying new doors and handles and getting a local guy to fit them. I had some bedroom furniture sprayed and it looks great but it’s not hard-wearing enough for a kitchen.

I have, I have a large kitchen and utility room and it cost £1650. I got a lot of quotes the most being £3000!!! I would definitely recommend doing it it's made my kitchen look brand new!

Had mine spray painted 4 years ago. The guy used a finnish spray paint if i remember correctly and is still looking good. I think it cost around £2000.
