Hereford - London - Cardiff

After a bit of travel advice.

My son lives in Camden and I live in Hereford I am looking to take him to Cardiff tomorrow but he doesn't drive.

Where would be the best/easiest place to meet him just outside London that he can use public transport to get too?

Wouldn’t it be easier to catch the London to Cardiff train?

(I’m sure I’m missing something?).

I was going to suggest that.

You didn't think there would be connecting public transport links between two capital cities? Hmm

Quite.

BlondeFool · 22/08/2023 14:35

Odd

Knackeredhamster · 22/08/2023 14:36

Paddington is a good place to start!

CMOTDibbler · 22/08/2023 14:38

He gets the very frequent direct train from Paddington to Cardiff (1 hr 56) you get the fairly frequent train from Hereford (57min) meet there. Sorted.

London to Cardiff is an easy journey - plenty of times etc. Paddington to Cardiff central.

If you are happy driving into Cardiff park in John Lewis carpark and meet at Central Station?

gogomoto · 22/08/2023 15:01

London to Cardiff by train, national express, megabus or flixbus

gogomoto · 22/08/2023 15:01

For you I would drive straight to Cardiff and use the park and ride

thoughtprovokingname · 22/08/2023 15:03

Excuse me but I don't need your sass. I just told you I'm quite new to public transport and it's unnecessary to be an absolute pillock

@WILTYjim STAY OUT OF THIS.

I needed to get to Cardiff last year from the South Coast. I got the train to London, crossed on the Underground and then caught the train from Paddington.

It was a much better service than my local trains. I don't know if they have them on all their services but Great Western had a trolley service on the Paddington-Cardiff train. I hadn't seen that for years. It was great.

How old is your son?

ProfessorLayton1 · 22/08/2023 15:22

London Paddington to Cardiff direct service. Dd travels regularly on this train. Several trains a day. Use Trainline to book tickets. If you don't want to drive from Hereford, you can take a train via Abergavenny as well. There may be other options from Hereford but am only familiar with this route

sandberry · 22/08/2023 15:23

Both take a train and meet in Newport. Ridiculous to drive, the train is over an hour quicker.

Why meet in Newport if they want to go to Cardiff?

GoodVibesHere · 22/08/2023 15:27

Yes you can travel from the capital of England to the capital of Wales by train. I get that you might be 'new to public transport' but I'm wondering if you are new to the planet?

Motnight · 22/08/2023 15:29

Have you ever had road rage Op 😬

Hollyhead · 22/08/2023 15:31

There’s a being new to public transport and then there’s not even doing the most basic google….

This has to be a wind up 😂

So unbelievably rude.

I can't believe you didn't put London - Cardiff in any of the train sites. Weirdest thread.
