How to waste a day away when WFH

DownwardCat · 21/08/2023 07:02

A day full of Teams meetings today, with at best one hour breaks…

How do I spend these breaks? Of course, I can do the right thing and work, as I have done for the last 30 years. But we are going through a restructure and my card is marked, so it makes no difference if I work hard or mess about. Plus PMS…

What can I do with myself in these breaks to enjoy the day?

Get out in the light and get some vit D.

Damnloginpopup · 21/08/2023 07:04

Drink coffee, eat or masturbate would be my choices.

YouHoooo · 21/08/2023 07:05

Paint your nails and eat biscuits.

Sugarfree23 · 21/08/2023 07:09

Go for a walk, work on your health and fitness

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 21/08/2023 07:09

Update your CV and start your job search?

Strugglingtodomybest · 21/08/2023 07:10

Depends on what you enjoy doing surely?

Mario kart

Go for a walk, have a bath, watch your favourite TV show with a coffee. Do some odd bits of housework so you don't have to do it in your free time.

Godzillaisjusthangry · 21/08/2023 07:13

Start a good series on Netflix/Prime and have one episode per break.

Go and sit outside with a cup of tea and read Mumsnet

BanditsOnTheHorizon · 21/08/2023 07:13

Cuppa in the garden in the sunshine
Nana nap
Box set episode
Read

Lol how funny. I would go for a walk or watch TV.

CrapBucket · 21/08/2023 07:17

Put washing on
Make coffee and nice snack
Teams meeting
Hang out washing, put another load on
Make another drink and snack
Teams meeting
Repeat

At the end of the day you have an empty laundry basket. And feel all organised and smug.

WinchSparkle80 · 21/08/2023 07:18

Eat something, quick walk, read, tv series on netflix, declutter something?

Make a list of jobs to get done, then spend the entire time on making mumsnet getting overly invested in other people’s lives.

donkra · 21/08/2023 07:35

I'd install a mouse jiggler on my work laptop so I showed as online and watch TV on my personal laptop. Have a long walk and do a workout. 😁

caringcarer · 21/08/2023 07:40

Find a series to watch in TV. On Amazon Prime Survivor series 10 is there now. That is very addictive and you could fit in one episode in between each meeting whilst drinking coffee and getting on a load of washing.

Savemesos · 21/08/2023 07:44

I used to like to get all my cleaning/chores done while wfh (during Covid when colleagues were furloughed but not me). It made me feel better that I was being paid to clean!

Either that or a cup of tea and mumsnet.

Anothernamethesamegame · 21/08/2023 07:45

Have a major Wi-Fi fault that means you are unable to attend teams calls for the rest of the day?

Olika · 21/08/2023 07:47

I used to clean, cook, wash laundry, watch TV, call with friends, look out of window, would have gone to garden if I had one

Brilliant 😆

declutteringmymind · 21/08/2023 08:14

Find a new job, do some courses, beautify yourself, exercise, Power Nap, catch up with loved ones on the phone, declutter a cupboard.

CyberCritical · 21/08/2023 09:25

Have you got to be on camera for the meetings? I had an 8hr meeting I had to be present in last summer but didn't need to actually participate. I had it on my phone in my pocket with Bluetooth headset and used the time to build a shed. It was one of those keter plastic ones.

DownwardCat · 21/08/2023 12:59

Update so far:

I have stripped and washed the spare bed
Did two other loads
Vacuumed downstairs
Walked to dry cleaners to take the coat
Tried on clothes for an event to decide what to wear
Had a cooked lunch

I am knackered, I think I am just going to work work 😂
