Cringe movie moments

That scene in Bridesmaids where the bride and her best friends are miming and gurning along to the Wilson Phillips song makes my toes curl. And this is in a film where they're shitting in the street and vomiting on eachother. Not sure why, but it really makes me cringe. Does anyone else have strange can't -watch-it movie moments?

The animal cracker scene in Armageddon.
When Edward runs with Bella on his back, so bad. I gave up then.

isthismylifenow · 20/08/2023 13:48

Just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her.

Arrrgggghhhh

BeverleyMacker · 20/08/2023 14:05

All of Mama Mia. Can't stand it.

GratitudeGoddess · 20/08/2023 14:17

Completely agree, really cringe

I'm guessing What we do in the Shadows or something 🤷🏻‍♀️

Anyway back to OP I suppose any "montage" bit or musical interlude makes me cringe

Poor Hugh Grant in Love Actually with that dance thing.

And on Love Actually, fake swearing (piss it - who even says that).

Richard Curtis is a very, very successful master of cringe

Or the bit where he sings Good King Wenceslas on Martine McCutcheon's doorstep and the energetic security detail joins in 😅

I have had a lifelong crush on Pierce Brosnan, but I've also just remembered how much he makes me cringe when he sings in Mamma Mia. It is only him, I have no idea why 😂

xyz111 · 20/08/2023 14:53

The end scene in Harry Potter when they're all older. Hate it!!!!

Pierce Brosnan is truly dreadful in this.

Another singing one...

Agony... from Into to the woods. 😄

I instantly thought of the scene in the rain in Four Weddings and a Funeral.
Also Titanic where Rose stands on her tip toes- makes my skin crawl.

wendywoopywoo222 · 20/08/2023 15:44

Beauty school dropout in Grease. Used to fast forward over that scene.

Also in Harry Potter:

Neville: 'I killed Harry Potter'
Neville killing the snake

I was actually going to make a small list until I realised there really are too many cringe bits in the last 3 or 4 films to list.

Can't watch the bit where Harry and Hermione slow dance. Or the bit where Ron destroys the horcrux.

BeyondMyWits · 20/08/2023 15:54

The nude film stand ins on Love Actually. Me, DH, Dds 14 and 15 with the in laws all on the sofa at Christmas time... Crrrrrrrrinnnngggggge

hungrycaterpilla22 · 20/08/2023 15:56

Neville in the final Harry Potter films where he's trying to be cool and act hard. He can't pull it off.
'Yeah, you and whose army?' winds me up every time.

Hillcrest2022 · 20/08/2023 16:14

Samantha in that SATC film in the middle east where, after trashing and disrespecting their culture 'yes, condoms... I have sex' goes on to state 'let's get the F out of Abu Dhabi'.

I cringe at that tone deaf superiority complex some tourists have over other cultures.

imapterodactyl · 20/08/2023 16:18

Any of the holiday. I used to love it but I can't bring myself to watch it again

ApocalypseNowt · 20/08/2023 16:20

Slightly niche but I just watched Predator 2 and good lord, I'd forgotten that for some reason they'd made all the characters look INCREDIBLY sweaty. At all times.

I mean I know it's set in LA and it's hot but everyone is literally dripping in every scene. There's one bit where several skinned dead bodies are dangling from a ceiling but I was honestly more grossed out by the sweat patches.

See also the original Top Gun. Also too sweaty and a mega cringe when Val Kilmer unnecessarily "bites" the air at Tom Cruise. Just why.

livinglifetothefull · 20/08/2023 16:21

Every line the whole film in fact RAMBO i no its old but i just cringe now

They actually were the next 2 on the list before it got too long and I realised it was all a bit cringe 😂 I remember the bit where Harry grabbed Voldemort round the neck, saying "Come on Tom, let's finish this how we started it: together" and then threw them both sideways off the side of where they were standing. I couldn't breathe for laughing.

livinglifetothefull · 20/08/2023 16:24

OMG just thought of another on CON AIR just no just to much big man act.

Yes that piss it line has always annoyed me. Also agree that Curtis is the king of cringe

Ditto with the lifelong Pierce crush. I love him even more for being open to making such an utter twat of himself in that film! When he first starts to sing it's genuinely alarming 😂 even Meryl looks frightened

No one in the history of the world has ever said 'piss it'. Theres such proper great British swearing available, why make up rubbish? It would have been much funnier if she'd said 'oh bollocks'. Just awful

AristideBeauvoir · 20/08/2023 16:53

Russell Crowe as Javert in Les Miserables and singing.....Oh dear! 🫢

Lagershandy · 20/08/2023 18:18

C1N1C · 20/08/2023 08:50

Agree, but with Halle Berry in Die Another Day "I think I got the thrust of it" innuendos. I get Bond is riddled with them, but in that (and virtually all her movies) she's just cringe.

I didn't realise DAD was on this afternoon and yes I did fast forward Madonnas appearance😄
I'd forgotten the extraordinary performance (not in a good way) of Toby Stephens who was the villain, he seemed to have played the role as Flashman from Blackadder!

Clawdy · 20/08/2023 18:31

"Where the fuck is my fucking coat?" Martine M, in front of her little cousins standing in the hall! But I do really like Love Actually!
