What lockdown hobbies have you kept up with?

For me it's houseplants. I've always liked them and am a bit of a gardener but I got quite interested and now propagate and give away to friends.

I wish I'd taken the chance to really get in to running or some other outdoor activity but sadly didn't.

Yoga - done it on a daily since May 2020. Life-changing.

Lucienandjean · 18/08/2023 23:56

Crochet
Growing vegetables
Cycling
Buying takeaway coffees 😳

Cryptic crosswords. Always wanted to learn how to do them. Took ages but I still do one a day now and love it. Bonus is that DH got interested too so it’s become a shared activity.

Motheranddaughter · 19/08/2023 04:28

None of them
Did lots during lockdown to fill the hours but left them all behind when I got back to my real life

mathanxiety · 19/08/2023 04:41

Sourdough bread baking, and houseplants.

DivingForLove · 19/08/2023 04:47

@clary this is an addiction I need in my life! Do you use a particular you tube video or do your own thing?

Mine were Duolingo (still going!) and outdoor swimming 😄

RosaKim · 19/08/2023 05:11

Sewing! Can’t believe I have kept it up. Is there a sewing chat on here?

Goodviibrations · 19/08/2023 05:22

Running
Houseplants
Wordle
Chess

EdithDickie · 19/08/2023 05:51

Learning Spanish. Started in April 2020 with Duolingo and since then have added own study, online live lessons with Babbel and, when funds allow, individual online tutoring with a teacher. I'm getting pretty decent, could actually chat with people on holiday in Spain in the Spring 😁

Goldenboysmum · 19/08/2023 06:08

Diamond painting. Started doing small cheap ones from Amazon and really enjoyed it, especially as I'm not artistic/crafty at all!

Stopped for over a year when my son died, Christmas 2020, then started again about a year ago.

Now I do large, expensive ones from an American company, but they take me so long it probably works out im spending about £5 a week 😀

Once I'm finished, I roll it up and put it back in the box.

some people think its a waste of money but it's so good for my mental health, especially when my dad was ill/dying earlier this year.

Zoom calls 😁.
We are four women who met in our children's nursery, liked each other, but rarely managed to meet.
Ever since the summer of 2020, Monday night has been Zoom night for us. No need for babysitters, we can drink wine without worrying about our way home and when we are shattered (usually), we just pop in for half an hour in our pyjamas. It's perfect for mums of young children, I think. About once a month we meet in person, so it's not too impersonal.

I follow Yoga with Adriene's monthly calendars. I love her tho some are not keen.

FindingMeno · 19/08/2023 06:49

PuddleglumtheMarshWiggle · 19/08/2023 06:53

PuttingDownRoots · 19/08/2023 06:56

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 19/08/2023 07:21

Home Schooling! Just never sent him back!

OnGoldenPond · 19/08/2023 14:39

Walking!

Did the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in June so it definitely stuck!

olivehaters · 19/08/2023 14:43

Regular walks with friends. Found loads of short local walks from my house in lockdown. Still regularly meet local friends for an early morning or eveningn walk. Also when meeting friends further afield it is often for a walk where it would have been the pub/ lunch in the past.

marshmallowfinder · 19/08/2023 14:50

Putting on weight.

Not sure you would call it a hobby, but a daily local walk. Today there was a lone Canada goose and no sign of a mate or goslings.

daisychain01 · 19/08/2023 15:03

40 mins of yoga every day at 6pm since Feb 2020. I used to do a 90min class twice a week pre-COVID but the daily practice has stuck.

A lot more gardening post-COVID. I've been a gardener most of my life, the enjoyment grew during lockdown and has continued. It became a way of keeping my sanity when everything else seemed to go to pot.

JanieEyre · 19/08/2023 15:08

Another one with language learning. I had dabbled in reviving my French and German on Duolingo, and decided that I'd do French properly. I'm still doing it on Duolingo with a streak of over three years, but am now supplementing it with classes.

Scrolling on my phone in search for reassurance whilst simultaneously finding out ten more things I need to seek reassurance for on Mumsnet. Until late.

This definitely 👍 and also not going out and avoiding other people. I absolutely love not going out, it’s one of my favourite hobbies.
