How much do you still look like younger you?

Just an idle musing really.

How similar to younger you do you look?

I met up with my friend yesterday who is 61. She doesn't really look any different to she did when she was 41. When she didn't look much different to when she was 21!

Obviously older and her face etc has matured but still instantly recognisable as her.

Apparently, I don't look any different to I did as a teenager/very early 20s. Obviously, my face has matured but I'm still obviously the same person.

I've bumped into people I went to school with a few times and, although they've recognised me, I haven't had a clue who they were! Recognised the name when they introduced themselves but never would have realised otherwise. Or I've seen photos of friends and colleagues in their younger days and they just looked completely different. Not better or worse necessarily just really different.

I look very different. And not in a good way. I was (blowing my own trumpet here but hey ho) always very pretty up till late 20s, long straight ish hair, good skin, slim size 8-10, tall etc. Then I developed a load of autoimmune issues including lupus and had to take a shit load of steroids and other medications and I piled on the weight, and oddly enough it’s made my hair very frizzy and curly (I had chemo for the lupus and it’s probably that). I really hate the way I look now; I don’t recognise myself so I don’t think anyone else would. I’m trying to do the whole body positivity / confidence thing but actually I just really miss being young and slim and attractive. Shallow but that’s how I feel. The one good thing IS actually no one would really recognise me so at least I don’t have to have the awkward “oh it’s you!” moments.

I found an old passport recently from when I was 18 and in 6th form and was going on a trip to Paris. Admittedly I had laryngitis and looked and felt like shit but I looked better now at 46 than I did then!

i have almost black hair and a think fringe and bright blue eyes which many people mistake for contacts and I’ve always been a size 18-20 and haven’t majorly changed. I do smoke though and don’t look after my skin as good as I should but have inherited very good genes. I know full well that it will catch up with me soon. I’ve met many people over the years from high school etc who have recognised me instantly while I have with some of them and others I’ve not had a clue who they were.
