i know people pinch glasses
from pubs all the time , it’s wrong , but people do it. My friend has done this and she said she thinks the owner saw her and is now worried , I’ve told her to take it back , I’m sure it’ll be fine . I don’t know . Has anyone got in trouble before for stealing a glass ? Or for returning it ?

Omg I've just remembered nicking a lovely piece of - what's it called? Not China, not porcelain, a bit chunky eathernware, pottery ? bowl (this is what happens with too many pub visits readers!). I'd had my dinner in it, it wasn't a centre piece.

And added a Xmas bauble on the way out!

It was the only pub in the tiny village that I lived in at the time 🤣. Nob 🙄.

If the owner saw her they would have asked for it back?

What possible thrill is there in stealing a manky old pub glass?

Let us know restaurant please.
Restaurant is so different from boozer.

Years ago, I went to a pub with my boyfriend of the time and his dad. We took a friend too. BF and dad were regulars to the pub. Friend took a shining to a half pint Guinness glass, and stashed it to take home. Landlord noticed as it was the only half pint Guinness glass in the pub. Friend did take it back, but was barred.

I have a friend who will shamelessly steal nice teapots or milk jugs from cafes.

God, why? That's so bloody low rent.

I used to get pissed up and take my drinks home under my coat. I would take the branded ones. I'm now sneaking alcohol INTO venues. Only ever had to drink up if caught but I was pissed and young. Might be more embarrassing as an adult.

In my years working behind bars I must have seen thousands of glasses smashed, cracked glasses by stacking, fights, trays of glasses dropped, full washing machine trays dropped during cleaning, chips and cracks from random events, omg that reminds me of the days of smashing a bottle on top of someone’s else’s drink to make it fizz, may still happen, I don’t know… I don’t think I ever counted glasses or saw it as a problem unless it was staff dropping the glasses, if customers broke them or left with them fine, but staff might get a scowl. No one ever counted glasses.

We have about 12 pint glasses that DH "sequestered" from pubs from the age of about 25 to 30. I have no idea what thrill it gave him at the time but he loves those glasses.

More often that not you can buy such glasses on a well-known auction site. (They may have been stolen in the first place though!)

That is very funny...

I quite covet those colourful Beavertown glasses. Never taken one though.

DH nabbed a branded linen napkin from a Jamie Oliver restaurant when I made appreciative remarks about it.
I’m still too embarrassed to use it and that restaurant has long since closed down.

A friend wanted to steal a teapot for one from Bewleys in Dublin (perfect size and shape) but the hot loose tealeaves put him off…
I asked him “Is that a teapot in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?”

There’s a Thatchers Glass that I really like the shape and feel of. A perfect shape, well balanced and good size.
I want to steal one, but I’m too scared of ending up on the local ‘Spotted’ Facebook page I know stealing is wrong.

When I was on holiday recently I was served cider in a lovely jam jar glass and I asked if they would consider selling one to me - they agreed for just a few dollars so it's worth asking!

I furnished my crockery and cutlery cupboard from whetherspoons, in my first home.

All the cutlery, salt & pepper, one of those big spaghetti bowl plates, an oval platter size plate, one of those triangle ones that had the bit for a dip pot. I've even got a couple of their individual gravy boats.

Still got it all somewhere. Copious glasses.

The things we do when young and stupid 🤷‍♀️
