Just had a big, big Spider in the room. Im shaking and feel sick. Dp got it for me but i'm scared there will be more. Honestly it was massive! I'm in a real panic.

Anyone know how they get in? My windows were closed.

Try not to worry.

It's a one off and it's gone now.

They don't come in packs, there won't be any more.

PickAChew · 11/08/2023 22:54

Disappointed at the lack of pics.

BananaSlug · 11/08/2023 22:55

At least you have someone to get rid of it for you. It’s reasons like this why I hate living alone 🥲

ThisIsAGoodName · 11/08/2023 22:55

Please no pictures. I've seen more than enough tonight!

@EmilyBrontesGhost thank you that has calmed me a bit. Problem is we get them every year round this time.

@BananaSlug you are very true. I honestly could not have dealt with it. Makes me feel pathetic but is true.

If you can bear them, a few daddy long legs left alone eat the big hairy house spiders. I have a few in every room. They normally stay up high. They are also very slow. No more house spiders!

I know, and I understand the fear.

But the reality is, that one spider doesn't mean there will be others.

They are actually solitary things, doing their own thing, and it's gone now.

It's over, it's gone, try not to think about it any more x

Get yourself a spider catcher!

I think I should. I'm worried I will mess up and drop it though. I think if I was able to remove them myself I would be less scared.

I noticed one as big as my hand above the tv tonight. My Dh put it outside. I know it won’t hurt me, but omg, it was huge!

Ibizafun · 11/08/2023 23:31

Please no pic...

WhineWhineWhineWINE · 11/08/2023 23:38

I absolutely LOVE spiders, the bigger and hairier the better. I think I might be weird.

Yarsvi · 11/08/2023 23:39

There was a huge one in my house the other day, never seen anything like it outside of a zoo. I put it on a plate with a cup over it and it was actually moving the cup from within.
I released it into the border in the garden and you could see the undergrowth moving as it scurried away. I was petrified.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 11/08/2023 23:55

I have a spider catcher and it really helps keep control as I think when you're trying to kill it or chase after it it gets the adrenaline going and makes you feel worse. Apologies but it probably didn't get in and was already in your house. That said I used to get huge ones every night in my bedroom and I think they came from the lean to

I saw one in my lounger the size of my hand! I am too scared to sleep.

This can't be a serious question?

Yes I have a lot of the spindly spiders in my house, the ones with tiny bodies and very long thin legs. I heard they also keep the bigger buggers away. I'm not sure how they do it though, given that they barely move and when they do they are clumsy and slow 🤷🏼‍♀️

SnowWay · 12/08/2023 00:05

I wa like you 2 years ago.

I now have spiders as pets and pick up garden spiders as I think they're cute.

Decades of fear over such small things.

Wenfy · 12/08/2023 00:06

Fuck the hairy spiders. Has anyone else had an influx of giant hairy moths? I almost fainted when I saw one this evening.

Ifulikepinacoladas · 12/08/2023 00:08

@ThisIsAGoodName if they still run it, do the Spider Friendly course at London zoo (or similar) it was literally life changing for me.

Just get a tall Tupperware box to trap them in (and a lid so they can't climb out). You can do it yourself 🙂 or.. they sell spider catcher things online but no idea how well they work.
