And then they…eat a Cornish pasty with a knife and fork.
25 years I’ve known them. Or thought I knew them.

Anyone discovered anything as dramatic as this about someone they thought was rock-solid 😂?

Um.. I hate to lower the tone, but could it be something to do with foreplay and whether the man is left or right handed?

And to keep in the spirit of the thread, when you suddenly find out that a seemingly normal and. Harming friend Is an actual train spotter.

Giggorata · 12/08/2023 06:40

Jeez, normal and charming.

Visited long-married friends recently and discovered that HE slept on the left (when looking at headboard from foot) side of the bed, and HER on the right ....am considering ghosting them

DP and I do this.

DP is right-handed.

Nuff said.

Your friends are 'correct' though...traditionally (in days when men slept with their sword at their side!) he would sleep on the right when lying down (so 'left' as you look at the bed from the bottom towards the headboard) so that his 'sword hand' would be closer to his sword (to protect against intruders 🤷‍♀️)

Now though...when swords are not usually kept by our bedsides...it's still the most common 'side' for a man to sleep on, due to having the right hand free for sex 😆

I guess the lefties will sleep on the 'left as you lay down' so that their left hand is readily available when rolling over for a 'cuddle' 🥰🤣

BCBird · 12/08/2023 06:59

With both my exes, me (f) on left and them (m) on right. Didnt live together. When at my house my choice. Used to sleep on left at their's too and if away.

cornflakesandtea · 12/08/2023 07:54

I found out a year after DH and I moved in together that he likes Fry's Turkish Delight. I was already invested at this point but it was touch and go for a while.

Errolwasahero · 12/08/2023 08:02

Ltb about the pasty. Not ok. Nor toasties. Pizza I suppose, if it’s very floppy.

I had a great and lovely friend who one day said ‘Ordie’ for the car Audi. I seriously struggled.

That is very upsetting. Mine likes Pernod. I thought it was a deal breaker, but at least he doesn't like Fry's Turkish Delight.

TheDutchHouse · 12/08/2023 09:22

A little bit of me died when my ex pronounced sandwich as samwitch with the emphasis on the M .... was no going back!

My thoughts are with you both.

i was quite surprised when, after 4 years of being together, DP casually mentioned that he usually had a sun bed session every time he had a haircut. I thought he was just quite naturally tanned 😳

Bonjovispjs · 13/08/2023 00:36

I've recently discovered that a very good friend who I've known for years likes pineapple on pizza 🤮 Not sure our friendship can survive this.

CantThinkOfANameAtAll · 13/08/2023 11:55

Well...shoot me now Shock

I sleep on the "wrong" side. I love, love, love Frys Turkish Delight (especially when it's been in the fridge), and my pizza of choice is Hawaiian. What else am I doing wrong?

Roosmarjin · 13/08/2023 12:02

UpsidedownCakes · 12/08/2023 06:38

went out for lunch and a few of us ordered a toasted sandwich, a friend offered me a knife and fork and I pointed to my plate and laughed and said it was a toastie! and they then went on to eat theirs with a knife and fork, never seen that before I thought it was very odd 😂

A friend eats a burger with a knife and fork. When I asked why, he said because else the burger just falls apart when he eats it with his hands.

That has just brought back a long buried memory.
I'll see your Samwitch and raise it to saminitch.
I think my face said it all, I've got the ick thinking about it now.
And we used to go to a restwrong for dinner.

I never get the having sides of the bed thing.

Do you sleep different sides every night?! 😳

Like when someone with whom you've been getting on perfectly fine pronounces mischievous with an extra 'ee' sound before the 'ous' and you suddenly realise you hate them?

Shit, I've just realised I do this! Must train myself to stop before the kids pick it up, I blame my parents. Grin

Aww, DH is ambidextrous. I can sleep where I like. 😁

I do like pineapple on pizza though so there are times when he can barely look at me…

notprincehamlet · 13/08/2023 12:56

There's a bit in Merchant Ivory's Room With a View where Lucy is falling out of love with Cecil and her 'Taxi!' moment is when he's in the garden batting away a bee in a ridiculously overdramatic way. That.

He’s obviously right handed.
Many people are. Is that a problem?

newnamethanks · 13/08/2023 14:04

The butter knife! Ugh, vile. Feel quite nauseous.

cousingregroy · 13/08/2023 12:14

Well no, not in the sense that we rotate who gets what side.

Usually whomever goes to bed first picks the side they want.

squarecircled · 13/08/2023 14:53

He doesn't like custard 😱

Found this out after 30 years of friendship ... sad day 😆

My DH eats pizza with a knife and fork. Is that grounds for divorce?

My ex did this. A big tough guy ex-copper from Dundee and I watched him daintily eat his pizza with a knife and fork 😱😂
