Does anyone remember the days of dancing around your handbag?

I am watching Top of the Pops 1977 and reminiscing.

I told dd that in those days (70s/80s) we used to put our handbags in a bag pile on the floor and all dance in a big circle around the bags. I got a strange look 😐. Does anyone else remember doing that?!

We did that in the 90s!

Totally remember. Late 70s, early to mid 80s. Then I stopped clubbing.

Yes, but they were ugly impractical handbags!

White handbags. Huge white plastic ear studs. Pink cargo trousers with elasticated ankles. Curly perm.

We did this in the 00s!

We used to put our handbags next to the dj booth very trustingly

I also remember some women would take their shoes off and dance all night in their tights as their feet were killing them. You would get a whole group dancing about with no bag and no shoes!

I'm 54 and that's what we did a clubs on the 80s

And I still take my shoes off to dance.

Same! But we also took off our stupidly, ridiculously high heels. Thinking back it was grim.

Shoes off,
Bags on the floor,
All going to the loo together,
Hotpants on - especially those that had a little "skirt" around them so that when you danced, the hotpants were on full view.
Smoking in the horshoe shaped seats, and cheap drinks
Desperate and trying not to be when the "slow set" started. Afraid to be the only one not asked up to dance, as happened to me on occasion.

I left my bag on a seat and went off to dance. Came back and not surprisingly the bag had vanished, however it was found in the men’s toilets minus my £7.

This was 1982. I’m still cross about that £7 🤣

Yes, I remember doing this in the 90s. Also wearing bodysuits with co-ords. I remember fumbling with my poppers after 4 Diamond Whites! 😆

It was all so simple then!

I also remember coming home stinking of fags (I didn’t smoke ) and feet filthy from dancing with no shoes on. Glass on the floor and all sorts 🤣

I did this at a festival recently! More backpacks than handbags though
