Does anyone else enjoy the occasional dinner school type meal?

I'm trying to clear out my fridge and freezer so tonight I'm having cheddar mash(I will of course be adding more cheese and butter) with baked beans and I might have some tinned peaches for pudding.(I love tinned peaches)

I'm really looking forward to it. Does anyone else enjoy the odd "dinner school" meal? And if so what's your favourite.

I was in hospital for a week once, quite ill and very weak.

As I got better I really loved the hospital food! It was very school lunch and very comforting. I have no idea if it was any good, I was just so pleased to be able to eat I think.

I was in hospital recently and the food was good but quite school-like. Much better than the bloody Harvester we sometimes take DS to, that food is shit.
Does anyone else remember Leftovers Curry? Probably the stuff slightly too good to go in the pig swill bucket.
I loved the puddings, especially proper suet jam rolypoly

I regularly make batches of what gets labelled for the freezer SDM, i.e school dinner mince’ - a favourite of dh.
It’s not really much like real SDM though - lots of finely chopped veg plus red lentils, so semi veggie.

With the addition of tomato purée and Italian herbs, it turns into bolognese sauce, and with tomato puree plus paprika, chilli powder and a tin of kidney beans, lo and behold, chilli.

Dh still really likes ‘naked’ SDM though.
