Where would you recommend for a 4-night-ish stay in October? Me, DH and DS14. No specific interests to cater to, but nice food, and interesting streets to wander around would be perfect. I'm wondering about Rome, Berlin, or Lisbon but would love anyone's ideas!

Copenhagen! It's not cheap but definitely foodie and has interesting streets. So many green spaces to enjoy, plenty of museums, Tivoli, the canal at Nyhavn, the Round Tower.

Barcelona

Rome is amazing!

Porto is great for wandering and eating.

Rome

Budapest, super friendly, lots to see ( though even better at Christmas).

Gateappreciation · 02/08/2023 21:30

Amsterdam

Hoppinggreen · 02/08/2023 21:30

My teens (including 14 year old DS) love Munich.

Rome is wonderful!

Krakow is also lovely with lots to do, visit, look at, a very different cuisine, a very walkable city, plenty of choice of types of hotels close to the historic centre.

LadyWithLapdog · 02/08/2023 22:12

Riga
Prague, of course

netto · 02/08/2023 22:15

Krakow is lovely with some history

cyclamenqueen · 02/08/2023 22:17

Rome would definitely be first choice with an 14 year old , great food , lots of history , great parks and monuments , loads of atmosphere. Also Granada , tapas is a massive hit with teens , all very walkable and the Alhambra is spectacular . We loved Berlin but our teens were older .

Seville

Brugge is lovely. Very interesting buildings, nice eateries, Belgian beer for DH and Belgian chocolates for me. Lots of chocolate shops to choose from. Boat rides on the many canals and a trip up a windmill were memorable.

Amsterdam for sure.

NottsNora · 02/08/2023 23:37

Another vote for Amsterdam. We stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel, visited some epic museums Micropia, Body Worlds, took a ferry to swing on ADam, completely avoided the red light district and had a brilliant time.

We've done each of Rome and Barcelona in October half term with teens. Both went well.

watcherintherye · 03/08/2023 00:21

Barcelona! We went last November and loved it. T shirt weather and lovely to wander round. If your ds is interested in football, you could do a stadium tour of Barcelona’s Camp Nou or even go to a match like we did!

XelaM · 03/08/2023 00:22

Vienna!

UnfunnyJester · 03/08/2023 06:57

Rome.

Cazzovuoi · 03/08/2023 07:03

Rome definitely!

NancyJoan · 03/08/2023 07:04

Berlin is our October half term trip this year. Can’t wait!

calimali · 03/08/2023 07:12

Prague. Such a lovely city to walk around and so much history. A very east bus ride from the airport and trams in the city if you want to go a bit further out.

It is also much cheaper to visit the museums than most cities.

Lonecatwithkitten · 03/08/2023 07:14

Salasburg is gorgeous and beginning to get a bit Christmassy in October.

cptartapp · 03/08/2023 07:16

We've done Rome and Barcelona with teens in October. Copenhagen and Reykjavik at Xmas.
Seville though, is my favourite.
