Does this water bottle even exist?!

One of those small but increasingly irritating things.

DP, DD3 and I all need new water bottles. Our current ones are driving me nuts as they’re hand wash only and as with all good intentions it just never gets done as much as I’d like. I just need something I can (actually and fully) bung in the dishwasher, lid, body and all and let it do its thing.

I’m currently in a bit of an overwhelmed phase and trying to simplify life. If I can help it anything that enters our house right now is going straight back out if it can’t be machine or dish washed, air fried or slow cooked!

(Not adding Milton sterilising to my mental load either right now before anyone suggests it, but thank you)

BUT in addition to being fully dishwasher safe it also needs to have a free-flow straw (not those bite down straws like Camelbak, we tried and all couldn’t get on with them) and ideally over 700ml.

I’ve ordered a couple of different ones off Amazon but despite the descriptions being ‘dishwasher safe’ they arrive and the instructions suggest otherwise or you find out only the lid is! 😩

Any help welcome, thank you! x

I can't think of a single water bottle that will wash well in a dishwasher. It is just not what dishwashers do.

A thermos mug will get washed but dishwashers are just not up to the challenge of a narrow necked bottle.

How about a stainless steel one?
Yeti are amazing, I've got a standard one and Stanley ones look good too, both can come with straws.

Diddykong · 01/08/2023 22:25

The standard contigo ones for kids are fine in the dishwasher and never leak.

Toddlerteaplease · 01/08/2023 22:26

One got an Ion8 one. (With dragons on it)

Toddlerteaplease · 01/08/2023 22:27

It's free flow. Just have to be careful of the air vent if it's full.

GetMeToThePark · 01/08/2023 22:30

@Ollybob stainless steel would be fine! I should probably have mentioned budget though as we’re needing 3 so was thinking more around £20ish mark

These look great, definitely something to aspire to! 😅

The sistema bottles without straws are easy.to drink from and wash in bog standard hot soapy water.

GetMeToThePark · 01/08/2023 22:35

@Diddykong the Contigo autospout ones look great and I had a look at those but dismissed them because they said hand wash only. Might have more of a dig into them because they pretty much fit the bill otherwise. Thank you

Have a look at hydroflasks - may be slightly over budget but they last forever! They keep cold drinks cool and warm drinks hot as well (to an extent)

Helen483 · 01/08/2023 22:38

You certainly can get plastic water bottles that are dishwasher proof for less than £10. I have one - it's Tritan - but you can get similar ones on Amazon. You need to look for BPA free plastic.

GetMeToThePark · 01/08/2023 22:38

@minipie would need a straw too but thank you

And yeah it’s fair but I guess I got stung before as I did the same with a previous bottle and it came out misshapen and it wasn’t even a super hot cycle 🫠

We currently have 4 of these Typo bottles in various patterns on the go and I love them. Pattern doesn't fade in the dishwasher, nice and big, relatively cheap and lots of good designs. You can get them direct from Typo but I normally by via ASOS, if you get the app within a week there will be a random 20% off code!

Does this water bottle even exist?!
GetMeToThePark · 01/08/2023 22:44

I could kiss you @aeb941 ! This looks like it might be exactly what I’m looking for!! Dishwashable, straw and good value. Might well be I just need to look beyond Uncle Bezos 😂
Off to find my ASOS app..
Thank you 😘

You're welcome! I recommend them to everyone 😂 tbf I've just checked the description and it does say hand wash only but my oldest one has been on the go about 18months now and holding up perfectly well going through the dishwasher at least 3/4 times a week

Member589500 · 01/08/2023 22:49

TK Maxx always has a great range. I’ve always found my best ones in there

ZombiePara · 01/08/2023 22:59

Best water bottle I've had in ages. It does advise not to dishwash, due to the colour, but mine is in and out and has survived amazingly well!

Could you afford to get something like this fitted (or fit yourself if you're particularly handy)? https://amzn.eu/d/d1qTeXe

One more thing to do now but would save hours of time trying to get bottles washed in dishwasher.

GetMeToThePark · 01/08/2023 23:10

@Wambamcam renting right now so not a goer but I love the idea! I am pretty handy so I’ve added it to my wish list. Nice shout!

I have this ion8 one in two sizes. I don’t have a dishwasher but it says it is dishwasher safe.

I feel so much closer to getting this off my to do list, super grateful x

Not what you asked exactly but we all have chilly's bottles, expensive outlay but they've lasted years. I just put them in the sink with fairy overnight and rinse in the morning.

AdditionalCharacter · 01/08/2023 23:17

Another recommendation for the Typo one, I have one for work. Plus they're 3 for 2 at the moment.

mrstea301 · 01/08/2023 23:29

I just got an ocean bottle and it's dishwasher safe!

AlfietheSchnauzer · 01/08/2023 23:46

The BEST water bottles I've ever bought which meet all your requirements too and have never leaked (& survived many a drop onto concrete) were from Costco! Pack of 3 in pink, blue & green. Fantastic bottles. 24oz capacity too
