Who the fuck do they think they’re talking to?

this has only started in the last few weeks.

on Instagram, I comment on a photo/reel. Then some random man (I assume) will comment underneath with some comment about my weight. Telling me I’m obese / need to get to the gym, or I’m fat and lazy.

I’m fat. A size 18. Not ideal; but frankly none of their business.

why the fuck have these men got the audacity to comment on my weight?

I would tell them to fuck off but that would just be fuelling their fuckwit-fire.

Is it the same arsehole each time?

CaptainMyCaptain · 30/07/2023 16:48

Just block them. Arseholes.

Gonnawashmymouthout · 30/07/2023 16:49

Completely different men! No idea why. Is it some sort of incel trend?

TomatoSandwiches · 30/07/2023 16:50

Because men have been raised since the year dot to believe they have the innate, no! Divine right to say what they want to women, especially if it is in regard to physical appearance.

PriamFarrl · 30/07/2023 16:51

As the saying goes;

Lord, grant me the confidence of a mediocre white man on the internet.

Just tell them that you can always lose weight but he’ll never be able to change being an arsehole.

Restinggoddess · 30/07/2023 16:53

Men share these comments ( and others) amongst themselves as part of a saddo way of dealing with their own sad lives
You have a choice

  • laugh back at them , which will likely make them up their game to a nastier comment
  • block

They are saddos who know that a comment to a women about her weight will hurt them - and them move onto comments about appearance etc

They are sad - live your best life, that’s the best revenge

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 30/07/2023 16:56

Block them immediately because it’s the easiest way to ensure they don’t get a second more of your attention.
They are arseholes.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 30/07/2023 17:06

Reply "You are nobody and your opinion is irrelevant" or "You're just some friendless loser, who cares what you think". They are of no importance to you.

Or just think those replies to yourself and block them. Honestly if they had lives worth living they wouldn't be hanging out on the internet trying to make other people unhappy, would they?

PuffingPuffin · 30/07/2023 17:09

"You'll never lose your virginity taking to women like that"

JudgeRudy · 30/07/2023 17:09

I guess it depends what your comment was. If for example you've said that someone doesnt look good in a particular outfit I think it's fair game for someone to comment on your appearance. I sometimes take a look at profiles to see who's made cheat comment but it's usually in response to a particularly provocative remark.
The thing is it's a free for all isn't it. When someone says 'who gave you the right to comment on XYZ?', the answer is Facebook/Twitter whoever did. That's the terms and conditions we sign up to. It's not nice but I expect to be called a Karen, a retard, heartless, selfish, etc....I've been called a troll today, here on MN. People often mention things that have no relationship to the original post and often no truth in them.

Elieza · 30/07/2023 17:22

They have so little in their lives that they have to put someone down in order to feel good. It was your turn today. It’s of no significance. My retort would be. ‘What’s your point, caller’.

They couldn’t dismiss what you said outright but had to feel one up on a woman so they put down the woman’s appearance in some way. So in a twisted way take a compliment from that.

And they have also probably been brought up in a misogynist household where they think that’s ok and don’t even realise how pathetic they are.

They probably feel smug sitting there as keyboard warriors in their moms back bedroom aged45, with no wife, no life, and not understanding why - but being angry at all women as we should fancy a slob with a beer gut and BO like them because they are such a catch as mummy said so….

I feel sorry for mommy too as she’s probably been isolated, shouted at and put down by her husband for years.

Gonnawashmymouthout · 30/07/2023 18:35

The original comment had nothing whatsoever to do with weight/ appearance. It was about cats. It’s happened a few times over the last month, which is making me wonder if it’s a thing? The weird thing is that after the first comment I made my profile private: so they can only see my profile photo. I’m a size 12-14 in the profile photo.

Some men think the worst thing they can say to a woman is that she is fat. It's a cheap lazy insult. Sadly many women think being called fat is the worst thing ever.

Campervangirl · 30/07/2023 19:39

Arseholes!
I commented on a FB post and somehow managed to invoke the wrath of random "man".
I'm not overweight or he would have picked on that, so he commented on my teeth, said my teeth were yellow and gave me tips on whitening products but not in a nice way.
I wouldn't mind but my teeth are white because I whiten them and they look really white in photos 🙄
Dickheads will always find something to pick on

Restinggoddess · 30/07/2023 20:29

Have you read The ink black heart by Robert Galbraith??

The online, male, trolls use a standard comment - starts about a dog or cat, then your weight and then a lot nastier

Could have lifted this from those books - maybe she is onto something telling us on the book 🤔

NightShiftDrama · 30/07/2023 20:32

How odd

I don't think I've ever seen that kind of thing! Use Instagram a fair bit too

Maaate · 30/07/2023 20:33

This gets a lot of use on my twitter 😉

Who the fuck do they think they’re talking to?

Only white men ever behave like dicks then?

"You'll never lose your virginity taking to women like that"

Brilliant

VeggieStraws · 30/07/2023 20:40

I think there's an incel trend for men telling women to make them a sandwich. I'm sure incels are also very keen on telling women they're fat too. Don't engage, any response at all will no doubt be wank fodder. Just block them and try not to give them a second thought. Imagine having such a tragic life that you'd spend it scrolling through Insta insulting women. They're pathetic little men who aren't worth your brain space.

PriamFarrl · 30/07/2023 20:41

LakeTiticaca · 30/07/2023 20:35

Only white men ever behave like dicks then?

No.

But it’s an overwhelming majority.

Merapi · 30/07/2023 20:42

"I can lose weight, but you'll always be a dickhead".

RedRobyn2021 · 30/07/2023 20:44

Can you make your account private? Then they can't view your photos

There are a lot of horrible trolls on the internet, I wouldn't even respond tbh they are not worth your time

Bizarre that it should happen once, let alone a few times in a month?
