I had a chicken needed cooking so thought I'd make a roast for dd and I. Have made apple and pear crumble for pudding.
If you aren't ahving a roast what are you having today?

I am! I bought a piece of gammon with the plan to cook it coated in crushed pineapple and chilli and serve with salads and sweet potato wedges. However the weather here is more November than July so I've sacked that off and am reverting to roasting in honey and mustard and serving with roast potatoes, carrots, roasted cauliflower, green beans and cheesy leeks (and non cheesy leeks for non cheese eaters.) Obviously plenty of gravy too. I'm quite looking forward to it, I've not done a proper roast for ages! Not sure if I will bother with a pudding, but I will be baking this afternoon and we have strawberries and raspberries so there will be sweet things available should anyone want it.

Roast pork, parsnips, carrots, cauli cheese, broccoli and stuffing. No dessert yet ....

It's nearly ready and I'm ravenous! Will probably wipe me out and I'll need a nap. Why not eh? It's Sunday 😁

Ohhelpicantthinkofaname · 30/07/2023 13:44

Roast chicken, garlic dough balls, salad and maybe some potatoes.

Roast chicken, sweet potatoes, roast potatoes, carrots, homegrown runner beans and mange tout.

I took the children out blackberry picking this morning so we’ve got a blackberry crumble for pudding.

It’s nearly ready!! Can’t wait.

WhateverMate · 30/07/2023 13:48

DH is currently making a roast chicken will all the trimmings.

Didn't think about dessert but we've got some ice lollies in the freezer.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 30/07/2023 13:49

Chicken in the slow cooker, with a peri peri rub on it. Will do crushed herby potatoes, yorkshires and stuff with veg.

mrsneate · 30/07/2023 13:49

Off out to a lovely little country pub for Sunday lunch :)

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 30/07/2023 13:53

Very autumnal where I am so doing 2 x roast chickens (hungry tweenies), smashed potatoes, Yorkshire puds and lots of gravy.
Strawberries and cream after, or might make a strawberry crumble.
Or just have a nap.

Soulesssummer · 30/07/2023 13:56

@Sooze2023 havent you forgotten the potatoes? How can pork with just veg wipe you out?

Justcashnosweets · 30/07/2023 13:59

Full roast chicken dinner for us today. Plus Profiteroles for dessert 🙂

ohtowinthelottery · 30/07/2023 14:01

DH will be cooking roast lamb later on. We don't often have a roast in the Summer but it's hardly been summer weather recently so we had roast chicken dinner last Sunday too.

sawnotseen · 30/07/2023 14:15

Roast beef, roast pots, Yorkshire pudding, cauliflower cheese, carrots, cabbage and peas. It was lovely!
Now eating a big bag of Revels for dessert.

sawnotseen · 30/07/2023 14:18

I did the roast potatoes in the air fryer for the first time. Par boiled them first and tossed in the meat juices/fat that I'd seared the meat in. They were lovely, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.

I did that the other day for the first time (melted a bit of beef dripping over them) and they were gorgeous!

Soulsummer - there's enough carbs in the amount of carrots, parsnips and stuffing I have! And then the crackling 😍

Wishthiswasntthecase · 30/07/2023 14:40

We had pork, roast potatoes, sweet potato, parsnips, peas and carrots. Trifle for pudding. It’s the cats birthday!

MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig · 30/07/2023 14:47

Yep, youngest said the other day that we haven’t had a roast for ages and that she loves my roast dinners. So I’m going to roast a chicken later. Homemade Yorkshire’s - perfectly acceptable on any roast dinner - roast veg, cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes and then I’m doing a rhubarb crumble and homemade custard for pudding.

Better get started now.

Humidititties · 30/07/2023 14:52

Roast here too, I've just done my roast potatoes and they are the best ever...so looking forward to them. Having roast chicken, sprouts, broccoli, carrot & swede, Yorkshire pudding and gravy

Humidititties · 30/07/2023 14:53

And Eton Mess for pudding

dogsweetdog · 30/07/2023 14:53

I always fancy one but when it's just the two of us I cba to cook one...we are having chicken souvlaki with roasted new potatoes and Greek salad

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 30/07/2023 15:01

Sausage, root veg and blackberry traybake with Yorkshires, mashed potatoes and green beans followed by a blackberry sponge. (Can you tell the allotment is full of blackberries at the moment)!

AuntieMarys · 30/07/2023 15:08

A cheese and charcuterie board

dontgobaconmyheart · 30/07/2023 15:13

I made a curry yesterday so we've all just had that for lunch with some bits on the side - roasted broccoli, coconut naans, some shop bought samosas and some roasted marinated chicken legs for the meat eaters (most of us are vegan)- it's grey and raining so didn't feel too much of an affront to summer, though I wish it would turn up!
