Do you have a tv in your bedroom ?

We do but it is tiny and not a smart tv so I only turn it on for sound / company if I am cleaning In there

but I was thinking of getting a better tv to encourage me to actually go to bed a bit earlier (I would turn it off at a sensible hour🤣)

so I would shower and chill out rather than back up to the main room ?? Maybe nowadays the thing is to use you or phone

Yes we do, it’s the old one from the lounge when we got a new one, however we never actually use it 🤷‍♀️ just sits on the wall…

I think the last time we turned it on was before Christmas when I was wrapping the kids stockings

To be fair the tv in the lounge is better & bigger 😂😂

Both the kids have TV’s in their rooms as well as x boxes and PlayStations if they don’t do their chores I switch off the internet so they can’t use them till they are done!

We panic bought one in March 2020... life was looking too ominous to carry on with only one TV.
We didn't regret it!

Everyone else was in the toilet roll and pasta section of the shop 😂

IMustDoMoreExercise · 29/07/2023 21:59

We're in our late 50s and we like watching films in bed before we go to bed.

We also watch the news each night before bed.

Don't like watching tv in the living room after 9pm as I feel tired.

RosesAndHellebores · 29/07/2023 22:00

No. We never have. I would love one. Simply because every time I sit down on the sofa and switch on the TV I fall asleep. As soon as I go up to bed and turn off the light, I am.wide awake.

CrunchyCarrot · 29/07/2023 22:01

Nope.

bananaboats · 29/07/2023 22:03

Yes we do, if DH is watching sports or whatever I'm happy to retreat to the bedroom to watch my own thing. Also when DH is working night shift I don't really sit in the living room at night so gets a lot of use in our house!

roughoption · 29/07/2023 22:08

Yes but don't have one in the living room Grin

NannyGythaOgg · 29/07/2023 22:08

I do; I never watch it at night though.
I live alone, and at weekends, and weekends only, I bring a coffee back to bed to watch Saturday Kitchen on Saturday and Best Bites on Sunday. Never have it on at any other time.

I might be doing it a bit more now though. I'm retired and I'm trying to do intermittent fasting. The longer I stay in bed in the morning the easier I find it not to eat. As soon as I go downstairs the hunger kicks in.

ohtowinthelottery · 29/07/2023 22:09

We have one in our bedroom. We watch Breakfast news in the morning whilst drinking our coffee. We never watch it at night. Very occasionally I might watch something on it if DH is watching something else on the main TV.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 29/07/2023 22:10

We do, don’t use it every night but I enjoy snuggling and watching a movie in bed together. Especially in the colder seasons. Also good when you’re feeling unwell and don’t want to share your illness with household.

EversoDetermined · 29/07/2023 22:23

Yes, we do, and no negative affects on the “sleep hygiene” (what an awful phrase that is). We watch it when we are ironing, or tidying in there, during the day or evening if we want to watch something else to whoever is using the main telly downstairs, or if we are ill and in bed during the day. We don’t watch it late at night or after getting ready for bed.

watersprites · 29/07/2023 22:33

I used too but just have an ipad now

WandaWonder · 29/07/2023 22:34

No but only because we watch TV through laptop or ipad in bed

Sometimeswinning · 29/07/2023 22:39

Yes! Wall mounted because it's so special. I have it on whilst I do all my upstairs washing/putting away/bed changes etc. Sunday evening chores with a glass of wine and come dine with me. Perfect!

Dreemhouse · 29/07/2023 22:40

No, I used to have bad insomnia and was told by the doctor to not have a tv in the bedroom for sleep hygiene, and I’m sure it works. DH would probably like one but it’s a definite no for me. He will just stay up in the living room if he wants to watch something. We have blankets on the sofa so he’s cosy enough!

MoneyMouse · 29/07/2023 22:43

We have one built into our bed. We don't really use it much. If DH is away from home I'll take myself to bed early and watch it. It's also there for if one of us is ill in bed.

WheresTheRemoteControl · 29/07/2023 22:43

Yes. Purchased with the idea of early winter bedtimes, getting cosy watching a film. Happened maybe 10 times in 3 years

NadjaCravensworth1 · 29/07/2023 22:45

It's the only place I watch tv. As soon as i put my toddler to bed in that evenings I crawl under the covers and zone out real good! Most comfortable place to watch

MeinKraft · 29/07/2023 22:48

No DH won't have one which is annoying because there's nothing cosier than falling asleep with the tv on.

Meadowflower2023 · 29/07/2023 23:04

We do. I put it on every single night channel 48 (usually reruns of bullseye, the chase or who wants to be a millionaire) purely because I don't like falling asleep without lights and some quiet noise. The timer is set to go off at 1am every night in the settings. We don't have our phones in the bedroom hardly so if I can't sleep straight away it's just easy watching to nod off to.

DramaAlpaca · 29/07/2023 23:39

No. Never felt the need.

DC never had tvs in their rooms either, but pretty much the first thing DS1 did on turning 18 was buy himself one. Funnily enough, now he has his own place he doesn't have a tv in his room.

cocksstrideintheevening · 29/07/2023 23:57

Yes, it's huge. We can all comfy down more then we can in the living room and watch a movie.

gggbbbnnn · 30/07/2023 00:04

I didn't for years and then moved the old lounge tv into by bedroom. Whilst I do love it now, I wish I'd never done it

echt · 30/07/2023 05:41

Never had one, but then my live TV watching is the weather on Fridays followed by Gardening Australia.

OTOH my iPad lives in my bedroom, so a screen in another way.
