Have you baked a cake this size recently? You wouldn’t save more than £5 or £6 (if that) once the cost of ingredients is taken into account and you’d be looking at multiple bowls, cooking tins etc. If you didn’t already have the equipment, it would cost you way more than £30 to bake this cake!

I disagree. My dd baked a similar style 3 tier cake (with the extra tier being bigger than these), for her wedding recently. For all 3 tiers it cost her just over £30, plus extra for the decorations. It was absolutely delicious, but then homemade cakes usually are.
