Friday night, what are you up to?

It’s been a long week. I went back to therapy, and finally realised I have PTSD following the death of my parents. Only taken me 20odd years 🤦🏻‍♀️ But knowing has helped me be less angry at myself.

So tonight, DH and I had a glass of wine in the garden. Now he and the teens are larking around, while I make dinner. Nothing special - just Spag Bol - but I enjoy cooking on a Friday night, feels like a reward for a very busy week at work. It’s nice.

The teens will shortly disappear upstairs with beige, and we will have dinner, and more wine, and most likely watch a Succession or a new Black Mirror. What are you up to? How has your week been?

@LazyLeopard they are good PiL's. We get on v well, they are probably the most 'normal' of any parents ( inc my own) that i have ever known!

LazyLeopard · 28/07/2023 19:54

@Chickoletta on iPlayer? If so, yes, it’s lovely! And manages to cover the majority of the bits that haven’t aged well!!!

@Helpimfalling well done - that’s a huge step and massively brave. They’ll take time to settle, but hopefully you’ll feel ok soon xxx

@LazyLeopard Off to France for my cousin’s wedding. I can’t wait to get on that Eurostar with my book, a coffee and blessed peace!

weegiemum · 28/07/2023 20:04

I'm on my own, dh and ds (21) are in Belgium for the F1 this weekend and I've not been alone this long for years. My 2 girls are working all weekend. I suffer from anxiety (and depression and other MH stuff as well as a neurological disorder which makes me exhausted and difficult to walk with) and I am NAILING this weekend with my lovely little support thread!

Just got my Chinese takeaway delivered and had a glass of wine, I'm off to bed now as I'm knackered!!

LazyLeopard · 28/07/2023 20:10

@sunshineplayroom BRILLIANT! Enjoy! I’m so glad you have a good relationship.

@SomethingNastyInTheBallPool oh gosh! There’s nothing like a train and a book! What are you reading?

@weegiemum you’re amazing. Honestly, I think this is amazing. I hope you continue like you’ve started, you deserve a lovely weekend x

I've been ill the last few days so I'm sitting on the sofa, eating Ben & Jerry's and watching Succession. Might play a board game with the teen later.

HappyHappyy · 28/07/2023 20:19

Bath, face mask and early night in a clean bed. Currently relaxed in the hot tub with a cup of tea then heading up shortly. More of the same for my birthday tomorrow, the peace & tranquillity after another never ending hectic work week is wonderful!

CrackersCheeseAndWinePlease · 28/07/2023 20:27

Just picked dd18 up from work. Currently sat in tescos car park while she and dd8 are in there choosing snacks. As soon as I get hold it's pjs, wine and chill ready for work in the morning

CrackersCheeseAndWinePlease · 28/07/2023 20:27

Home* not hold

Neverknowinglysensible · 28/07/2023 20:31

Truly, truly have had an appalling week. I feel that I’m living in some sort of crappy soap opera apart from the fact that even crappy soap operas have something nice happen occasionally.
Just come back from the hospital, trying to think of something I can eat that isn’t a pack of crisps, and scrolling through Mumsnet to be brain dead before going on

Neverknowinglysensible · 28/07/2023 20:33

Sorry, pressed post too soon!
…before going onto dealing with the aftermath of the other absolutely devastating situation.

AvidBookAndCatCollector · 28/07/2023 20:35

I've had a really busy week, currently sat on my bed reading & surfing MNs nursing a little hangover!

MagentaRocks · 28/07/2023 20:36

I got up about an hour ago and heading into work shortly. Usually busy on a Friday, we’ll always busy but more so at the weekends.

LazyLeopard · 28/07/2023 20:36

@IveHadItUpToHere where are you up to in Succession?

@HappyHappyy have the best birthday weekend xx

@CrackersCheeseAndWinePlease what snacks did they pick?

@Neverknowinglysensible I am so sorry. Here if you need to vent xxx

Just home from work and I've fed the cats and I'm chilling with a cuppa. Going to heat up some dinner shortly (lasagne leftovers from last night).

AdoraBell · 28/07/2023 20:38

Drinking 🍷 after dinner.

Rachaelrachael · 28/07/2023 20:38

Stuck upstairs trying to convince my 2 year old to sleep and dreaming about having a glass of wine and something nice to eat if I ever make it back down 😂

muddlingthrou · 28/07/2023 20:41

Been to a pub in s.Ken after my DH took our 18mo to the science museum while I finished work. Realised our toddler is too old to sit still in a pub 😭 now home and about to crack into a moussaka I put together earlier plus garlic bread and roast veggies, yumyum

muddlingthrou · 28/07/2023 20:41

@Rachaelrachael - sending you sleep soon vibes!!!

NatalieH2220 · 28/07/2023 20:47

Movie night with my 6yo, currently watching beauty and the beast with snacks

YouCantTunaFish · 28/07/2023 20:47

In my jammies, red wine open, cheese and crackers being consumed and lying on the couch. Kids are at a sleepover, husband on a stag weekend so just about to choose what to watch. Absolute bliss

lucysmam · 28/07/2023 20:54

I'm eating a very pleasing, cheap, bag of pick-n-mix from Costcutter. It's mainly made up of those fizzy pink and blue bottles & they're one of my favourite sweets! Food Network on in the background & doom scrolling a bit.

Bed soon for me - I had chemo 11/18 today, and am out for a while with friends tomorrow. Don't want to over-do it!

Dd1's probably reading something Taylor Swift related & will come to relay random info shortly, as always.

Dd2's just been in the shower. Hopefully she'll get it in her head to start tidying a bit of her room before her friend sleeps over on Tuesday wonder which numpty thought that was a good idea when I'm usually tucked up by 9:30-10pm 🙄

omgsally · 28/07/2023 20:56

I'm counting down the minutes to 9.30 and then taking a sleeping tablet! It's a prescription one and it's a once in a month or so treat that I really look forward to! The feeling of it pushing me off in to an unstoppable sleep is just heavenly!

CopperSeahorses · 28/07/2023 20:56

Just slobbing on the sofa and hoping against hope that the little person actually sleeps through the night and that dystonia doesn't give us another disturbed night, it is a bloody awful condition for a small person to have. I might treat myself to a cup of tea and a doughnut in a bit in preparation for our broken night. I am just waiting for it to get dark enough for the girls terrorists to put themselves away before I go out and lock their coop door for the night then I might head up to bed but I have to set a midnight alarm to remember to do the midnight medications for the little person.

Diversion · 28/07/2023 20:57

Watching Hannibal with a bottle of red wine. Our neighbours are moving out at the moment (separately) and the banging around and multiple dogs barking when we are trying to sleep is driving us mad (mostly me because I sleep in the room with the adjoining wall). They haven't been awful but they have been very noisy since they moved in (lots of arguments, banging doors, constantly barking dogs etc etc) Hoping that the new ones are somewhat quieter
