'Been there, done that, got the t-shirt'. For some reason this old overused one just annoys the heck out of me. I think because I always imagine the person saying it thinks they are all kinds of cool and up to date.
For the same reason 'not' at the end of a sentence. 'It's really nice..not'. This feels like it should have died when the last episode of Friends ended

How many years young are you?

All patronising ageist fuckwittery delivered in a medical setting to me because I am over 60. I've now taken to replying "Why are you speaking to me like that?"

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 28/07/2023 12:33

People saying that their mental health is poor.

Don't you think that everyone else is fucking stressed to the eyeballs and has shit going on in their lives too?! The difference is that we don't all need to shout it from the rooftops. Poor behaviour to everyone around you isn't excused by it either.

What if you do suffer from bad mental health though and are actually having a bad time with it. I suffer with anxiety and it has been a bit shit lately.

LittleMissUnreasonable · 28/07/2023 12:36

Phrases with exclude other people and sound smug
"My own little family"
"Weekends are family time"
"Just me and my nuclear family"
"Family time"

terriblyangryattimes · 28/07/2023 12:37

"my lived experience"
"Another bite of the cherry"
"Belt and braces approach"

Oh yes indeed, this.

I call it "that voice" as it also springs up considerably in pitch and increases by 5000 decibels.

Makes my hair stand on end.

weleasewoderick23 · 28/07/2023 12:59

Every disagreeable person is a narcissist 🙄

I recently went for my theory test – I’m close to 40.

The guy ushering everyone about (50s) kept loudly referring to me as ‘young lady’ and ‘this young woman’ – but did not say this to or about any of the 20-year olds.

As if I give a fuck whether he regards me or young or not.

I just thought – oh fuck off. So patronising.

I’ve also noticed some younger people in shops, etc. have started calling me ‘love’. Again – fuck off.

Ha! How do they respond?

Dombasle · 28/07/2023 13:04

Pop.

Pop round was acceptable years ago.

Now it's pop here there and everywhere and on.

Kingsleadhat · 28/07/2023 13:06

The last time was a phlebotomist and she just looked completely bewildered.
and said "all done" while opening the door 😂

PurpleChrayne · 28/07/2023 13:12

"[someone or something] called - they want their [whatever] back."

Utterly cringeworthy.

I recall this, said in a sing song voice by a young woman of my daughter’s age, as though I was 5, or daft, awful, disrespectful
”For me” used by medics of any kind, awful, as is addressing patients of advanced age, ie 90+ by their first names, Ethel, Pearl, Albert, rather than Mr or Mrs, so discourteous

Ihateboris · 28/07/2023 13:17

Chillax 😡

Alighttouchonthetiller · 28/07/2023 13:17

The word 'frumpy'. It's used on here by some people as the ultimate fashion put down and I think it's really horrid. It not only implies that the person in question is unattractive, outdated and undesirable but also reinforces the notion that these things are the only things that matter. It's 'mean girls meets misogyny'. Awful.

Also, I've noticed recently the use of 'how embarrassing' and 'I'm embarrassed for you' - as if being embarrassing is the very worst thing someone could be (not mean, not stupid, not vicious but embarrassing.)

Coastalcreeksider · 28/07/2023 13:17

Any sentence with the word "blessed" in it, i.e. I'm so blessed to live here ...

Dontcallmescarface · 28/07/2023 13:20

"Fur" followed by either "baby" or "mummy/daddy".

SquashPenguin · 28/07/2023 13:22

‘Pop of colour’ makes me grind my teeth.

WandaWonder · 28/07/2023 13:23

Dombasle · 28/07/2023 10:34

Literally.

Inserted into a sentence where it is not needed.

And 'obviously' especially when it is no way obviously

I don't think that's a saying though is it? You're just annoyed people feel safe enough to talk about being mentally unwell.

The saying I hate is when people say "I've got mental health". Mental health what? Overheard a phone call the other day, the guy talking about an incident said "It gave me mental health and all". Fuck off

Allmyghosts · 28/07/2023 13:28

People on the internet who say welp

tobee · 28/07/2023 13:29

Cosplay

Calling someone an absolute star. Just very cringy.

Allmyghosts · 28/07/2023 13:31

"boils my piss", really hate that saying

I really dislike that one too - it’s pretty gross.

’Use your words’
It sounds so condescending.

‘Depression Bedroom’ I’ve seen this several times on social media where people show their very messy/dirty bedroom and say something like ‘come clean my depression bedroom with me’
I’m not downplaying depression - I just find the caption irritating for some reason.
