Is there truth in when someone says something when they're drunk? friend texted me whilst drunk.

Friend is away for a couple of days for a stag do. He doesn't normally drink so guessing not much would render him quite drunk. Last night I received a text at 1am but didn't see it till this morning. It was written terribly with a lot of typos and repeated letters in words so took me a few moments to understand what it said. The coherent version...without some random stuff at the beginning..

"Juyetii, poppy. I miss you. I wish you were here with me. Its so fucking beautiful. So so beautiful. Is it too late to tell you how I feel. You're the one. Let's go back to the beginning. I'm just wasting time. I know it might be complicated but it doesn't matter. it will be okay. I'm too fucking scared to tell you. I wish you feel the same.

I haven't received anything from him yet nor have I replied. I don't know what to make it of it really. Im pretty sure he was drunk when he sent it. Does he actually mean it if he was drunk? Do I bring it up / ignore it?! I've been thinking about it all day!

@MaxwellCat the difference is this person has no history with the op beyond friendship. So a text like that even drunk suggests feelings are there. Particularly given he is away and there's no chance this is a booty call. It's simply something nice

Yuck that is such a big turn off , I find it cowardly,
if you don’t respond well he can just say he was drunk and doesn’t remember saying it , it’s so much more attractive for a man to be honest and upfront with his feeling, sober

I realise you've already replied, but I have to say ime it's not as simple as social makes you tell the truth, because what you think is the 'truth' when drunk may not be the same as the truth when sober. It can make you feel more - or less - affection for people than you do sober.

Hmm I wouldn't be that impressed by a rambling drunk text. I wouldn't give it much credence and definitely wouldn't respond. Let him wake up and read it in the cold light of day and see if he stands by his words. Could be complete bollox. See if he makes any reference to it like sorry I was a drunken fart but I did mean what I said.

Why is he "out of your league" - if he has so much going for him he'd have no shortage of options.

100% - glad I'm not the only one who thinks it's a bit on the ick side, all the gushing just because he's had a few bevvies over the top.

You do realise that the people on your thread maybe different posters who have um different opinions. That doesn't make people hypocrites, because they have an alternative perspective.
