What can I watch this weekend?

DH is taking kids to his parents Friday afternoon and they're not returning until Monday afternoon - whooooooooooop! I'm meeting a friend for lunch on Saturday but other than that, nothing planned and I really want to sit back and chill (rather than clean and de clutter the house which I may feel guilted into doing). What series can I watch? Or film? I've got Netflix, Disney and Amazon. I like true crime, medical, nothing too 'funny' or trying to be funny. I've recently watched (and loved) Happy Valley, Bad Sisters, Fleabag, Colin from Accounts, Love Life. So something along those lines but also something that will reach its conclusion in the space of eight hours watching. Specific enough?? 😂😂

Did you watch This is Going to Hurt?

Marsyas · 26/07/2023 17:54

I think Fleabag and Colin from Accounts are funny!
How about Dopesick? I think that’s on Disney - it’s kind of true crime AND medical, in a way.

XelaM · 26/07/2023 17:55

GUILT!!!!! (BBC iPlayer)

It's so so good (just finished Season 1). It's absolutely brilliant from begging to end.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 26/07/2023 17:57

The Good Place
Broadchurch

ay30916 · 26/07/2023 18:07

Ginny & Georgia
Firefly Lane
Sweet Magnolias (bit cheesy but easy to watch)

I'm totally jealous of your weekend. Now planning what I would do in your shoes. Chinese, wine, crisp, tv & sleep. I'd do my best to avoid contact with anyone.

Damia · 26/07/2023 18:19

911 and 911 lone star on disney, bit of a mix of medical and firefighters in there
I like modern family as well, but that's more comedy

Badgerkin · 26/07/2023 18:24

Have you seen Only Murders In The Building on Disney? It is funny but the story is about a true crime podcast so you might enjoy it - DH and I loved it.

Yes, they are! But I don't like forced funny things - does that make sense??

Virgin River on Netflix was very good and have just started Northern Rescue on Netflix and seems promising after 2 episodes.

Only slightly jealous of your weekend OP, Hope you enjoy every minute!

I can highly recommend started Manifest on Netflix. But I would only watch it if you also have sky as well and here is why. I started watching it last week, Literally binge watched it to start season 2 only to find it made no sense whatsoever and it had jumped to season 4 then found out Netflix aren't showing seasons 2-3 however if you haven't seen it and have Sky you can watch the whole lot on there on sky max. I had to find it using the voice command button though.

sleepwhenidie · 27/07/2023 10:57

Dopesick is excellent.

Have you you watched Succession (won’t be done in 8hrs though)

Firefly Lane is really enjoyable and light.

Catastrophe? Sex Education?

Slow Horses is great.

sleepwhenidie · 27/07/2023 10:58

Oh-if you liked Bad Sisters you will also probably like Daisy May Cooper’s BBC things-v dark but funny…Am I Being Unreasonable? And Rain Dogs.

I haven't but know I'd love it. Maybe I'll binge the first series of that!

YY to both Catastrophe and Sex Education. That's exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for - unfortunately have watched both of them.

Firefly Lane gets much deeper and better as it goes on. Excellent

If you liked Colin from Accounts, then you may like Bump and Wellmania

Yes, loved Wellmania! (I seem to have watched a lot more TV than I realised!)

Have you watched Sixth Commandment on iPlayer? Very well done true crime story.

dizzyupthegirl86 · 27/07/2023 12:46

The bear. It’s sort of a comedy, but it’s also just bloody good tv. It’s mostly half hour episodes but I could easily lose a weekend to it.

usernotfound0000 · 27/07/2023 12:54

I opened this hoping to get some new ideas but I've watched everything that has been suggested, obviously very similar tastes!

I've just started watching Poker Face on sky, that's really good, dark humour with a bit of murder.

Anjelika · 27/07/2023 12:57

Working Moms? I was late to the party and have watched all 7 series over the space of a couple of months. The good thing is every episode is only half an hour long or less. Would also second Succession - I only started watching this just before the final series came out and loved it.

Schitts Creek too if you haven't already seen it.

uhtredbebbanburg · 27/07/2023 12:57

I just binged 9 Perfect Strangers on prime.

idrinkandiknowthings · 27/07/2023 13:03

If you've not watched it yet - The Sixth Commandment. Only 4 episodes based upon a true story. Superb acting.
