I know at first glance it looks like Lucy M Lloyd

But the capital L of Lloyd is completely different to the capital letter of the first name - and I'm sure Incan see an o! Making it not Lucy

Any thoughts please?

Loucy

Lifeetc · 23/07/2023 21:11

Honey M Lloyd?

MonsterCalling · 23/07/2023 21:12

The Ls aren’t that different. It looks like someone has made a mistake and gone over a line twice, or their pen took a few strokes to get going.

I also think it’s Louey M. Lloyd.

Yarsvi · 23/07/2023 21:12

Looks like Louey M Lloyd to me. The y in Louey is also quite different from the y in Lloyd.

peachgreen · 23/07/2023 21:12

Janey? Joney? I agree the Ls are too different… The middle letter is the same as the n in “and” on the other part of the note.

TenThousandSpoons · 23/07/2023 21:13

I think Louey M Floyd

especially after your update with the F in “from” - it is the same except for the cross but that can be explained with where the next letter starts. Fr joins from the middle of the F whereas Fl joins to the bottom of the l

MysteriesOfTheOrganism · 23/07/2023 21:13

Louey is how I read it.

Lismore · 23/07/2023 21:13

Do you know who W.W.V is?

ThanksItHasPockets · 23/07/2023 21:14

They are both Ls. They struggled with formation of the first one because the pen took a minute to get going, or they had too much ink on the first dip.

MixedTocopherols · 23/07/2023 21:14

I’m in the Louey M Lloyd camp.

ThePatriarchyIsNotAboutHorses · 23/07/2023 21:15

Louey M Lloyd

confusedlots · 23/07/2023 21:16

I think the last name is Floyd

continentallentil · 23/07/2023 21:16

The capital Ls look the same to me, but it looks like Luey to me - a phonetic spelling of Louis? Or a nn for Louisa?

Honey M Lloyd?

Why? That is not a 'H'.

TheOwlChronicles · 23/07/2023 21:17

@Lismore sadly not. But I do love a social history mystery! Just a pointless hobby really

I'm not seeing this difference between the two capital Ls.

Why? That is not a 'H'.

Because that's what I thought it said.... Obviously

TattiePants · 23/07/2023 21:19

Could the first name be Loney? Look at the ‘n’ in the word ‘and’. They both look like a u.

TheOwlChronicles · 23/07/2023 21:19

@SwedishEdith look at the top of each letter. It's subtle but it's there

MixedTocopherols · 23/07/2023 21:19

Well, presumably that pp is asking why you thought it said that, @Lifeetc

khakitrousers · 23/07/2023 21:20

I think it’s Loucy M Lloyd.

RosesAndHellebores · 23/07/2023 21:20

Louey Floyd. The F is missing the cross hatch across. The alternative is a T, that's just as my grandma wrote capital Ts.

Why is it anyone else's interpretation? Loney? Joney?

ferntwist · 23/07/2023 21:21

Louey M Floyd. The second L isn’t an L it’s an F, definitely

CavalierApproach · 23/07/2023 21:23

I dunno, I’m not an expert but I do see quite a lot of handwriting like this and to me, the difference you’re pointing out between the two L’s is just standard variation within the same basic letter form. People don’t always write the same letter in precisely the same way and that was as true back in the days of ‘
