Anyone else really enjoy looking at houses on the property websites?

Currently doing just that… Sitting with a cuppa on the sofa looking at all the houses that are for sale in my town… some really lovely ones and it makes me want to move!

Yes, I do that quite often. I'd love to move to a bigger house in my town. I sometimes look at other towns and villages.

Pkhsvd · 23/07/2023 20:34

I do this; it’s like a guilty pleasure for me

Rightmove scrolling is my hobby 😆

We’ll never be able to buy our own house so I dream up situations then search houses dependant on that dreamt up scenario.

eg. Big huge euro million win: Need a huge house in our home town plus a beachside holiday home/lakeside property.

Smaller lottery win: £300k - £500k lovely home in our home town.

Having to move across the country: I’ll pick a random town or village through google maps then search properties there.

I’m exceptionally sad.

Yes, it's good for inspiration. A couple of years ago everything was gray and silver, feature wall paper, and all very samey but times are changing.

My house is full of souvenirs of places I've been to. I sometimes wish I had a bland boring house and I'm forever dreaming that I'd have a home like some of the ones on Rightmove but know it will never happen.

Charcol · 23/07/2023 21:07

I enjoy doing the same. Not just u lol

Surely2023IsTheYearForMyRainbowBaby · 23/07/2023 21:19

Yeah i like to look at the big posh houses with tons of land, and lovely big kitchens, that I'll never be able to afford in a million years.

Riverlee · 23/07/2023 21:28

Yes, yesterday I looked in the areas my sister lived, my dc lives and where we previously lived at.

I’m currently scrolling through local seaside towns on Rightmove planning my retirement. I’ve got houses saved on there all over the country just in case I ever win the lottery, a girl can dream 😆

SoAndSoSaidSo · 23/07/2023 21:35

I love doing it. Get lots of ideas, but also like seeing the outlays.

LadyVictoriaSponge · 23/07/2023 21:36

I also like to look at luxury holiday cottages for decor inspiration.

Leafblow · 23/07/2023 21:42

I do this, I like looking for the expensive house sweet spot, where everything is really nice and the house is big but before it gets to the multi million pound houses that are just really ugly inside.
Its so funny, like at a certain price people have to put hideous red carpets down or the rooms are so big that the furniture looks lost and they have to put random expensive stuff in to fill it up.
As if someone wanted to build a sims house using only the most expensive things, but it ends up all busy and clashing and weird.

Mydogisagentleman · 23/07/2023 22:52

Currently looking at 3 houses in my road that are for sale.
All are within £15k asking price, obe person or their estate agent, is deluded

caringcarer · 23/07/2023 22:56

Yes I do this all the time. I sometimes get good ideas for decoration. I buy to let though so I'm often looking to buy a new house too.

xPeaceXx · 23/07/2023 22:59

Sure do! This is normal.

Fizzadora · 23/07/2023 23:03

I love looking at doer uppers and imagine how I would reconfigure and decorate. Floor plans are a must for this and the one remaining estate agent in our area that didn't provide these has now started doing it. So satisfying.

Lol. Yep, love it! There’s a lovely 5 bedroom house with 3 receptions, a big back garden, nice front garden and a big driveway for sale near me. A new build.

It’s lovely, love the open plan kitchen, the lounge and the sun room. Lovely bathroom and en suite shower room too.

Only problem is, it’s half a million pounds!! 😳

Yes, all the time! We are hoping to move in around 2 years' time though, so I consider it to be "research".

StopStartStop · 24/07/2023 17:27

Oh, yes. I'm looking for a house in Ireland with a sea view.
I live in Lancashire, my commitments are in Lancashire and Yorkshire.

But I like this.
Sky Road Wild Atlantic Way, Sky Road, Clifden, Co. Galway is for sale on Daft.ie

I love the view that you would have from that house!! Would be lovely to wake up every morning and look out the window to see that view.

I do it every time I'm thinking of redecorating then realise my interior is fine as it is

Illegallyblonder · 24/07/2023 17:56

I look at Cotswolds mansions, anything in our area, big houses in towns I used to live in, anything really.

I'm very judgy, I'll scroll going "why didn't they put that stuff away?" "hmm, that shower won't actually work because it's above a claw foot bath so if it's not a wet room water will go everywhere" and "not enough bathrooms for he bedrooms"

megletthesecond · 24/07/2023 18:00

Malibu real estate on Zillow is my guilty pleasure.

IHeartGeneHunt · 24/07/2023 18:04

I do! I'm never going to be able to buy a house. But I love looking at them. I'm very fussy with my imaginary houses.
I really love looking at massive old country houses with outbuildings and lakes and everything.

birdling · 24/07/2023 19:08

I buy a lottery ticket, wait until the draw has been done, then don't check my ticket for ages.
That way, I could theoretically be a millionaire and can scroll through the houses on Rightmove planning which one I will buy.
