Games to take on holiday for 15 yo

DS is about to be separated from the beloved Xbox when we go away for a fortnight. It's self catering in France, we have some outside space and will be near the beach. DD 18 will happily read for hours, but DS has lost his reading mojo and we need some good games to play. We'll have Boggle, cards, Skittles, but we need some more to grab his attention and avoid the hormonal mood swings.

Bohnanza is a fun game. Its appearance is deceiving as you are bean farmers but it is relaxing, easy rules and we always have a laugh when we play.

Rhino Hero - like building a house of cards crossed with jenga
Ok play - similar to connect 4 but for up to 4 players
Linkee - quiz game but you have to make connections between the answers
Obama Llama - I think this is better with groups bigger than 4
selfish - this is a card game where you have to survive in space but you can sabotage the other players
space team - this is a very silly team game, where you all play against a timer.
Bob Ross Happy accidents - competitive doodling

Dobble is a good one that comes in a small tin. There are a few different versions (normal, HP, marvel etc) so there may be one that catches his interest. Uno is always good for travel. Something like exploding kittens or bears vs babies are also good fun and they are card games that take up little space.

Mind is a brilliant game!! I've intod5it tk loads of people of all ages and we all, love it. Also its small!

Neolara · 23/07/2023 16:42

Bananagrams is small and lots of fun. Also The Crew if you like card games.

emmama2 · 23/07/2023 16:43

Cards against humanity or a slightly cleaner version cards against Disney- easy but hilarious game that will grab the attention of any teenager and adult. Be warned it gets wrong very quickly but is a brilliant game
Taco cat goat cheese pizza
Exploding kittens

gogomoto · 23/07/2023 16:49

Cards against humanity if you can copeGrin. It's close to the wire for a 15 year old but they will have heard worse in the playground and probably played it before. You'll get cool parent credibility in addition

AnxiouslyWait · 23/07/2023 16:50

Would he play something like carcassone? Amazing game!

Br1ll1ant · 23/07/2023 16:50

15? Teach him poker

BiggerBoat1 · 23/07/2023 16:54

Take a pack of cards? Linkee is a great game, but heavy to take on holiday. My teenagers still enjoy Uno and Uno Flip is a good variation.

Rainsdropskeepfalling · 23/07/2023 16:55

Ticket to ride.

Spottybikehelmet · 23/07/2023 17:00

Carcassonne, just leave the box at home
sushi go
ticket to ride
catan
exploding unicorns!

PhotoDad · 23/07/2023 17:08

"Port Royal" is clever, fun, and very compact.

ChopperC110P · 23/07/2023 17:20

Catan and Carcassone are great board games and they do make travel size versions.

OP, he won’t be able to play these by himself. Perhaps consider a Nintendo switch?

SpecialOnes · 23/07/2023 17:22

Sequence is a firm favourite here with our teens - highly recommend.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 23/07/2023 17:23

Ours likes Uni and Exploding kittens on holiday.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 23/07/2023 17:24

Oh, and the travel version of articulate!

maslinpan · 23/07/2023 17:27

Some great ideas. We already have Exploding kittens, Uno, and Carcassonne but DD isn't crazy about them any more. I would love a game for all 4 of us to remind him that screens are not the only source of entertainment. We will be bringing multiple packs of cards.

PhotoDad · 23/07/2023 17:29

Ooooh. Small, fun, takes about an hour; Forbidden Island. The four of you work together to beat the game (or, more likely, not).

Clymene · 23/07/2023 17:36

Oldie but goodie - my teenage son loves Risk

yoshiblue · 23/07/2023 17:45

What about a coop game like Pandemic or Forbidden City/Island/Sky?

We also really like Azul ATM, Sushi Go is a good pick up and play, Uno?

MrsPositivity1 · 23/07/2023 17:46

Articulate or 30 Seconds

Pack of cards

RobinStrike · 23/07/2023 17:49

Another vote for Risk

FlyingPandas · 23/07/2023 17:51

Rummikub and Yahtzee are both big favourites with our teens. Both can be packed small for travel, too.

Serena73 · 23/07/2023 17:52

Mine are a similar age and like Trivial Pursuit and Chess.
