What time do people do to bed?

Just curious really, I have lost perspective because I have children with additional needs that don't sleep but I also run a business and have lots of people message late and early (after 10pm and before 6am). I never know what time is appropriate to message people back either. My husband seems to believe that anything before midnight is early and I'm not sure it is. Just wanted perspectives.

Surely phones are on silent past 7 ( mine is always on silent )
I sometimes get up at 5 and reply to messages . Surely they get them when they wake up? 🤨

No my phone is never silent because I don’t have a landline. If my parents or in-laws need to call me at 2am, or more likely a hospital, carer etc, then I would like to get that call. Ditto cub camp leaders, my kids’ friends’ parents and a few other people I have a certain degree of responsibility for. And I can’t just set my phone to only let certain numbers through, because aforementioned hospital, carer, kids activity leader etc could be using any number. I do mute WhatsApp after 10pm, and if I was running a business I’d have a separate phone that I silenced outside working hours, but being effectively uncontactable from 7pm when you have elderly parents, dependent children etc is not practical. Happily I have yet to receive an non urgent 5am text, I would be sending a fairly unimpressed reply. Email is different, I don’t care if someone emails me on Christmas Day or at 3am.

10 at the latest. Maybe 11 on a Saturday but I've started waking up around 7/8 every day. I get up at 6.45 for work so I'm starting to go to bed earlier and earlier

Bed for 9pm if not earlier- try to sleep by 9:30/10pm.

Same

Annaishere · 22/07/2023 20:38

I can’t sleep before 6 am unless I have sleeping pills. Probably more people than you think are up all night

Augend23 · 22/07/2023 20:40

Can you set your phone to DND from 9pm to 7am?

I'd probably set my autoreply on emails to "this mailbox is not monitored between 6pm and 8am, and my WhatsApp status on my business account to "this account may not be monitored between 6pm and 8am" and then you can choose not reply, or even set an autoreply on WhatsApp if that's possible.

PS, I'm usually in bed by 9:30, asleep by 10. Sometimes 9pm, sometimes 10pm, occasionally 10:30 and almost never after 11.

I am an early to bed early to rise type though.

Bonfire23 · 22/07/2023 20:43

Night owl permanently tired pigeon and usually asleep between 12-2am. I get up between 7.15 and 8.45 depending on shifts
Wouldn't ring anyone after 9, except family. Phone is on DND but always allows calls through

Bonfire23 · 22/07/2023 20:44

Oh and work wise we do outgoing calls between 8am and 6pm on weekdays so start calling people any time after 8am

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 22/07/2023 20:46

Im usually asleep by 10.30pm and awake at 7am personally i think its rude to message after 8pm unless its urgent as i grew up being taught that peoples evenings were to be respected however im aware thats quite an outdated view now and my step children message/call at all hours

Freesideofcringe · 22/07/2023 18:22

11 and wake up at 7

Same for me

Jericha · 22/07/2023 20:48

10-10.30 at the moment as baby tends to wake up at 5.30. Usually it's more 11pm and midnight at weekends.

InTheFutilityRoomEatingBiscuits · 22/07/2023 20:57

Usually between 1-2am.

Its a good night if I manage to get into bed before midnight but I’m never asleep before then.

I get up at 6.30-7am.

I get business messages, social media and email at all hours, 2,3,4am not unusual, but I don’t have my phone upstairs so I don’t hear it and it doesn’t matter - no phone upstairs is the rule in our house. I’ll respond to business messages I get at 10,11,12pm though.

LindorDoubleChoc · 22/07/2023 21:03

People go to bed at all sorts of times!

Cas112 · 22/07/2023 21:03

10pm

Itwasamemo1 · 24/10/2023 23:19

Asleep between 10pm and midnight but wake up every couple of hours. Often let dog out about 7 am and then dose until 930 am ,get up about 10am .

coxesorangepippin · 25/10/2023 02:47

I'm in bed by 10pm most nights

DeepFriedBananas · 25/10/2023 03:23

It varies between 11 and 4 for me. My phone is on silent permanently and I never take it to bed with me anyway.
I wouldn't message anyone after 20.00.

LaurieStrode · 25/10/2023 03:30

I would be irked before 8am or after 8pm.

Flyingalone · 25/10/2023 03:33

7pm

Bub is up at 5am so I wake up at 4am naturally and have an hour to myself.

Suits me fine but I think I'm the only person in the world who does this out of choice?
