Could do with a handhold and some chat to get me through the night.

Currently with a critically ill relative in hospital 😔

@moonbeamsandstarlight I'm here. Would you like to tell me what the last book you read was about ? OR do you want to write about your relative ?

NoTeaNoShade · 22/07/2023 00:37

I'm also here. I'm sorry to hear about your relative OP.

user1471284740 · 22/07/2023 00:38

I’m awake too. Chat away, I’m just deciding which tapas to serve to friends tomorrow evening x

Enko · 22/07/2023 00:38

Sorry about your relative. Are you as comfortable as you can make yourself?

DramaAlpaca · 22/07/2023 00:38

A handhold from me, plus a virtual <<hug>> if it helps.

Mummapenguin20 · 22/07/2023 00:39

I’m here too

CrapBucket · 22/07/2023 00:53

You are not alone @moonbeamsandstarlight

moonbeamsandstarlight · 22/07/2023 00:53

Thank you. The nurses on the ward have been fabulous. So grateful to have the NHS at a time like this

They’ve got her on end of life care so just trying to get her as comfortable as possible. Unfortunately she’s in quite a bit of distress at the moment which is heartbreaking to watch but the nurses have just given her some more medication in her syringe driver so hoping that gets her a bit more settled

Sorry you’re having to deal with this stressful situation. I hope you have lots of support around you and your relative health drastically improves. Make sure you take care of yourself too.

brisedusoir · 22/07/2023 00:58

@moonbeamsandstarlight Have you been able to get yourself a hot drink ?

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 22/07/2023 01:00

Sorry didn’t see your updated post that your relative is on end of life care I’m very sorry to read this.

moonbeamsandstarlight · 22/07/2023 01:03

The nurses keep popping in and offering tea coffee and biscuits but I can’t face anything at the moment. It still all feels like a bad dream.

Mind you, she would be kicking me if she could for turning down a cuppa - she always tells me there’s nothing a good cup of tea and a custard cream can’t fix!

Very true sentiment about the cuppa tea.
Keep doing the best you can and may god be with you.

I'm here. Happy to chat. What's your relatives'most favourite thing in the world? Try and think of something that they enjoy that makes you smile xx

brisedusoir · 22/07/2023 01:07

@moonbeamsandstarlight If you accept the offer of tea you don't have to drink it, but you can hold the warm mug and play with the spoon, you can watch the waves you make it the mug stirring it.
Thinking of you.

LittleEsme · 22/07/2023 01:07

I'm here too OP.
Maybe eating a small amount, however much you don't feel like it, is the best thing to do. You need something to keep
You going x

Allhailkingcharlie · 22/07/2023 01:10

I am here.

mrsfollowill · 22/07/2023 01:10

Maybe try and drink some tea and nibble a biscuit. It's a tough situation and must be very distressing but look after yourself. I'm so sorry it is a horrible place to be x

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/07/2023 01:11

I'm awake - seems to be a pattern lately.

I'm so sorry about your relative. I think a cup of tea might be good - even if you don't drink it, just holding it might be a tiny bit of comfort at this difficult time.

moonbeamsandstarlight · 22/07/2023 01:12

Her favourite thing is probably knitting! She loves to knit, I can’t tell you how many knitted scarves I have in my collection from over the years.

Before the pandemic she used to knit blankets and hats for premature babies and take them to the local hospital. She’s a good soul and would do anything for anyone
