Got a hotel chocolate velvetiser, was wondering what chocolate people use in it? Thank you

I just use Cadbury's hot chocolate and add baileys at the end! DS likes the hotel chocolate milk chocolate but DD doesn't like it. We also have a chai powder drink we use in it.

Thank you @whatafaf

TeenDivided · 21/07/2023 19:31

Hotel Chocolat sachets, 70% for me and 50% for DD.
I know there are cheaper ways but this is o much easier.

Unbridezilla · 21/07/2023 19:33

We grate in any dark chocolate of our choice. Milk doesn't really work when you then add loads of milk for the drink

BecauseOfTheRain · 21/07/2023 19:34

The charbonnel et Walker is our favourite! www.lakeland.co.uk/73718/charbonnel-drinking-chocolate

I use whittards hot chocolate mainly as goes with milk and is absolutely gorgeous! And hotel chocolate if I've been brought them but I don't find they have many flavours really.

PrimrosesandPears · 21/07/2023 19:46

Knoops is the best hot chocolate and perfect for the velvetiser

CarrieMoonbeams · 21/07/2023 19:50

Whittards for me too, especially the white chocolate one.

Gherkingreen · 21/07/2023 19:50

Tesco do a Finest one and Waitrose also. Def need to try Baileys in it this winter @whatafaf , hadn't thought of that!!
A very generous friend bought us a Velvetiser for Christmas one year and though we wouldn't have bought one ourselves, we do love it in the winter. Also excellent for frothing milk for coffee if we're making several at once.

YukoandHiro · 21/07/2023 19:51

Does the velvetiser work if you use alternative milks? We have family members with CMPA

HolidayHollie · 21/07/2023 19:53

@BecauseOfTheRain is the charbonnel and Walker one chocolate flakes or powder? I bought it once but can't remember!

whatafaf · 21/07/2023 19:55

@SomethingNastyInTheGenePool we found this one in a local Sri Lankan shop. Even though I have a sweet tooth I prefer the unsweetened and DH likes the sweetened one.

HolidayHollie · 21/07/2023 19:55

OP I only buy Hotel chocolat because I think it's the best but you can buy it cheaper at outlet stores and also in normal stores sometimes with a few weeks to go on the Best Before date.

I love the Classic, Milky and the Salted Caramel if I want a sweeter one.

I've read on here before people grate aldi chocolate but I haven't tried it.

I just can't drink powdered hot chocolate now.

whatafaf · 21/07/2023 19:58

@Gherkingreen a bad lockdown habit! Dsis bought us the Velvetiser with the chocolat sachets and the espresso martini chocolate cream liquor which was nice too.

SomethingNastyInTheGenePool · 21/07/2023 19:59

@whatafaf Thank you!

Knoops is lovely as a treat. Drinking chocolate powder works fine.

Absolutely. I use soya milk, it's perfect.

BecauseOfTheRain · 22/07/2023 09:35

Charbonnel et Walker is flakes. We found it much nicer than the hotel chocolat sachets.

MonsterCalling · 22/07/2023 09:37

Lidl’s ‘deluxe’ hot chocolate is superb.

Offredismysister · 22/07/2023 09:42

I usually buy the hotel chocolat sachets, but picked up a few of the pendragon ones at a farm shop & they work just as well & are half the price.

FoodieToo · 22/07/2023 09:47

Also use Pendragon as mentioned above .

MartyFunkhouser · 09/10/2023 14:04

Charbonnel et Walker flakes. Or the bog standard hotel chocolat sachets.
