I had an interview for a dinner lady and ive only gone and been offered the position, woooo this job is so ideal for me with my children being in the same school also and across the road from where I live ! Super happy right now

My mum was a dinner lady many many years ago I always got extra chips

Congratulations! My mum was made redundant last year and got a job as a dinner lady plus kitchen assistant a few months ago. She loves it! The children are great, she really enjoys it. Good luck in your new job op

What’s involved in being a Dinner Lady? Is it supervising children or do you get to cook and prepare food too?

Yes not cooking the dinners,supervising the children.Been doing it 4 yrs now.

Congratulations @Woodward23 🎉 I'm not a dinner lady but my neighbour is and she loves it! Hope you enjoy it too. I still remember a dinner lady from my primary school who was the most lovely lady. Gave us all hugs (I don't think that's allowed nowadays).

Dinner ladies/men can be the ones who spend a lot of time with children who are vulnerable, the teachers and TAs are busy teaching but the dinner ladies can have that space to see how the children interact with each other and what playtime issues they have.
